Hello, I am trying to help my boyfriend enable voice chat on his PC. He turned on the in-game setting for voice chat but his headphones do not seem to connect to the game. He has his PC audio set to the headphones and he can hear game audio through the headphones, but when I try speaking through voice chat the voice only ends up coming through the PC monitor's speakers. The headphone microphone does not pick up audio at all. He has updated all drivers and checked that microphone is enabled for Destiny in Windows settings, tried restarting the Windows audio program, and has checked the PC audio settings are set to the headphones. Other guides we looked at online showed in-game settings to choose voice output/input but these settings do not appear in either of our games. He is on PC and I am using PS4 if crossplay makes a difference. He also has no issues using voice chat on Discord, so we know the headphones are properly connected and working. How can we make the game client register the headphones for voice chat? Again, other game sounds play through the headphones just fine.

The way i found to fix this was going into the sound settings and specifically advanced sound settings and check all his inputs and outputs. Also go to the “Change system sounds” (search it in the bottom left search bar) and select the playback tab and disable everything except his headphones/mic

Have you tried, pressing windows key + G while in destiny? It will bring up an Xbox overlay where you can change some voice/mic setttings. I had the same issue and changing the output/input to my microphone & headset fixed the problem
