This will be a 1 of 3 parts of me brainstorming some potential ideas to buff the new 3.0 subclasses. While overall the light subclass reworks have been great, there are some "not so great" stuff that needs some tuning. I'll be staring with Warlocks since its my least used class
Dawnblade
- Daybreak
- Now intrinsically scorches targets
- Kills restore a portion of super energy
(amount of super energy reduced in
pvp)
-While Daybreak is active, using
phoenix dive cost super energy (but
you can spam it, similar to how it was
in the old Bottom tree node)
-Phoenix Dive
-Reduced cooldown to be in line with
both hunter dodges and thruster
-Touch of Flame
-Defeating scorched targets causes
them to ignite (these ignitions would
be smaller and do less damage than a
regular ignition to balance it)
-Icarus Dash
-Has 2nd dodge intrinsically
-Now while Heat rises is active, the first
dodge cures you (has an internal
cooldown)
For Dawnblade, I was a good spot and people were overreacting to the changes, though it was a bit half baked on some parts, these changes should hopefully make it complete
Stormcaller
-Stormtrance
-While amplified, increases the duration
of Stormtrance (similar to the old
Transcendence perk)
-While Stormtrance is active, you can
activate Lightning surge (uses super
energy)
-Chaos Reach
-Damage ramps up the longer the super
is active (it would be around a 25-30%
increase). Being amplified speeds up
the time it takes to get to full damage
-Electrostatic Mind
-Being amplified increases the potency
of jolt (hits more targets and increased
damage, kind of like the old arc web perk)
Stormcaller supers are the only thing holding it back, and hopefully these changes can make them great (i just want to chaos reach bosses to death)
Voidwalker
Overall, this subclass is pretty much in a great spot, all it really needs is an exotic that boosts nova bomb damage
And that's all I have for right now. Feel free so leave any suggestions down below. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts in here. Hunters and Titans are up next (apologies is the formatting is a bit weird, I'm on mobile)
-
The Phoenix dive, dawnblade and electrostatic mind are the only buffs that wouldn't break Warlock. The chaos reach one should be an exotic with an added benefit that ionic traces also give a small amount of super. The others either sound too strong for their kits, stray from the subclass identity, or seem like it wouldn't be possible without causing the birth of another telesto
-
out side icarus having 2 dash good ideas
-
Tbh they meed to remove dawnblade and just bring back og sunsinger. I'm tired of all these trash supers that are only good for killing red bars. It's a fûcking super, I shouldn't be worried about how many shanks I can kill with it, I should be tearing through bigger enemies. Too many mob killer supers, period. Get rid of it
-
Something needs to change warlocks have gotten the shaft for a good bit now. Just taking and not giving back.
-
This all seems really good, but I still feel like icarus dash and heat rises being separate aspects is utter bull. Funny how the "healer class" doesn't even have an aspect about it, yet sunspots on titan give restoration.

Edited by Sunburn Seastar: 9/14/2022 1:10:29 AMI agree with all of your suggestions but I worry that the double dash might be a little op in in PvP. The only other problem I can see is I’m not sure if the buffs to dawnblade will fix’s it’s problems in high level pve content with it being too arial I mean a base fix could be just prevent grounded modifier from occurring at the same time as Solar burn, or maybe a slight damage resistance while heat rises is activated (PvE only) just to even the odds some. Frankly I’m a big proponent of returning radiance (not self res) I know you can argue sunbracers but no subclass should have to or need to use an exotic that completely creates a new aspect in a sense to use or make use of a subclass or different/new ability. an exotic should improve on abilities already present not create a new one (good examples are, starfire protocol, fallen sunstar, contraverse hold, and ophidian aspect (please forgive my spelling)). I know you can argue Felwinters helm, and Necrotic grips also fit into the same sphere as sunbracers but they don’t take these new abilities to extremes like sunbracers do (although Necrotic grips come extremely close if not just as bad as sunbracers) honestly, I love sunbracers they’re one of my favorite exotics but I just don’t think they promote a healthy meta. The only change I’d make to voidwalker is to give the grenade ability an extra fragment slot because both dawnblade and striker have similar grenade aspects that A. Don’t require the charge up time B. Modify grenades in a similar way while having 2 slots.
-
I feel like this won't fix Solar Warlock 3.0 for me. Having an Icarus Dash be an entire Aspect is garbage, healing grenades being separate, Phoenix Dive replacing a Rift, basically PvP Heat Rises being the lynchpin of everything just tank it all. If there were a button where I could delete all the code everywhere for Solar Warlock 3.0 I would press it. Even knowing how much trouble and suffering this would cause the devs, I would nuke it from orbit.
-
As a fellow Warlock main I appreciate you reaching for the stars with these changes, but when I saw the Icarus changes I giggled a little bit. Dash is probably fine where it’s at. Everything else seems fine to me though.
-
Let’s focus on bringing stasis back up to light 3.0 levels before we worry about light 3.0
-
I really don't think Icarus Dash needs a buff

• Phoenix Dive needs to be intrinsic with a Fragment to get the additional micro-healing. •Radiant needs to proc on using your charged melee or grenade - not scoring a hit with it. Invisibility in PvP or remove Devour for Titan/Hunter. •HHSN OHK. •Devour procced by Grenade consumption. •DMG boosts to Nova Warp. •Skull of Dire major buff or change. •New teleport ability spawning and leaving behind temporary decoys - illusions to address lost Blink exclusivity. •Arc Web replacement of note - Jolt on horse steroids. •Chaos Reach shielded when amplified. ... I don't see anything being done though. Nothing. Whomever thought to effectively put Warlock in the trash from Beyond Light onwards and give nothing interesting or comparable back - nor in Exotics - clearly has both a mind for lack of balance and the largest control of the decision-making table. For me all purchases are permanently off the table unless things dramatically change beforehand.
-
High discipline + firebolt grenade build with your new classy restoration built into Icarus Dash during heat rises is OP as hell. Dawnblade is still very strong in crucible. This would put it even more overturned than it was pre dash beef
-
The new hunter super needs a buff, as well as bubble titan getting its 35% back. Perhaps an exotic as well that let's people shoot through the bubble user.
-
I just REALLY need two (2) things. 1. Rifts deploy faster, and/or recovery and readiness is faster after deployment. 2. SOME kind of damage resistance...hunters and titans have all these mechanics to negate damage and recovery health while on the move. At the very least make Warlock supers more durable so we at least stand up to a single, tiny, smg.
-
i'm sorry to tell you but bungie does not care, so save your time..
-
You want milk with that cookie? Lol
-
The solar changes are actually just reverts to what bottom tree dawn used to be like lol. That just comes to show how screwed over solar warlocks got. The arc changes seem fine and the only thing I would ever add voidwalker is the old novawarp melee where it pushed enemies away followed by a void explosion. I honestly really hate pocket singularity, its definitely the worst melee warlocks currently have. Nothing sucks more than trying to use the melee to push someone away only for the melee to instead pull them towards you. This happens if you use the melee on someone thats sprinting or sliding towards you which is 24/7 in pvp.
-
Voidwalker is not in a great place its so bad in pvp
-
I honestly think Void should have 5 fragment slots- a bit of a shocker that the other two classes have them and warlocks don’t :/
-
Would love to see 2 exotics that buff warlock supers. One that lets chaos reach ricochet off walls and chain between targets. One that gives nova bomb the "lance" perk from d1 and increased damage.
-
Arc beam what ever its called.... What about this. Now you get glowing spikey hair and scream for 32 minutes like you are ****ing out a pineapple leaves first.

Edited by Ferus Lux: 9/14/2022 12:51:01 AMGood ideas all around. Dawnblade needs the Phoenix Dive attack during super to be a base aspect or changeable melee option at the very least because Titans get Death From Above as a base ability. Obviously, when used outside of the Daybreak super it wouldn't one shot Guardians. It's so dumb that Warlocks are the aerial class but don't even have an aerial attack.
-
As a dawnblade main in PvP, two dodges would be broken, I don’t want to deal with it, one is still really strong, except you now have to be better with it.
-
Hell no. That sounds so damn broken.
