TL;DR - Give me something worth grinding for that I can make. More involved crafting to give me exactly what I want to make based on the effort I want to put into it.
I really think more in depth crafting would benefit the crafting process itself. I understand that Bungie likely wanted the crafting to be relatively simple - get patterns, make the gun you’d like, shoot things. But I want a process that involves purposeful grinding, purposeful effort, and purposeful results. Here’s what I’m thinking:
Singular Weapon Crafting at Banshee:
-Craft your own weapon -one weapon that you can tweak over time as you get parts. Designate the weapon type, the archetype, the foundry/foundries, and then the perks.
How to go about this? Through grinding weapon parts at Banshee.
-Grinding out weapon parts at banshee (barrel, stock, sight, magazine, grip, receiver, etc) to craft the weapon from scratch.
-Different parts affect different aspects of the gun, and there are many different parts per each segment of the weapon.
How do you get these parts? Through the return of Armsday.
-Bring back Armsday each week, where you can pledge to a manufacturer.
-Throughout the week, you can grind out requests/bounties through banshee to earn weapon parts from that foundry. The more times you’ve pledged to that foundry, the better quality parts you can acquire.
-You can pledge to you to three different foundries per week, but only one can be progressed at a time. (Tex Mechanica, Omolon, Suros week 1; Häkke, Veist, Suros week 2; etc.)
What’s the point? To create a purposeful grind that is driven by you and your weapon.
-Create a weapon that is meaningfully yours. Suits your playstyle, suits your aesthetic, and is of your own creation.
What’s the difference between these manufacturers? WiP ideas, but we can play into their Origin Traits and pseudo identities:
Häkke: Slower firing, harder hitting. More damage to vehicles and the like.
Omolon: Liquid ammo - compulsive reloader built in, mobility/strafe increases as ammo decreases.
Suros: High reserves, high fire rate, slow reload. Reloading grants increased stability and handling.
Veist: Endless bites, moderate fire rate, chance to regenerate ammo on hit. Slow travel time on projectiles, increased return chance based on in-flight time.
Tex Mechanica: Space Cowboy Fantasy, with increased hip fire accuracy and damage. Decreased ads accuracy with increased handling. Plus fancy reloads.
Crux Lomar: Prototype designs, unknown effects until slotted. Can range from increased blast radius(on rockets/explosive rounds) to light highlighting enemies when ads, even double receivers for changes to fire rate.
Cassoid: Energy weapon benefits, with projectile changes, increased ammo pickup, but reduced reserves. Weapons fabricate reserves from heavy ammo pickup (lead from gold).
Nadir: TBD
The longer you commit to a foundry, the better parts you can get, the better stats and perks you can get as well. A weapon with high rarity parts will perform better than a weapon with low rarity parts.
I want something to grind for. Something like this, something crafted sparrows, innate effects on ghosts, I want a more impactful grind.
