Weekend oil painting class, we had a two day portrait prompt. I got sick on the second day, couldnt finish.
it doesnt look too bad though... right?

So, basically, I had this paper with some woman's face on it, yeah, and that was the target, yeah? so I take out my tools, yeah, get things sorted, and I paint the pallet with her head, yknow?
*takes off mobster hat*
So I got this array of black/white values (and then make some fleshy ones) and under that I start the colors for the skin and walls, just in case.
I start measuring and outlining and I get a good rough shape of the face, hair, and jacket. not too much a challenge. I like doin line art, most times.
I use the hues of black to start painting the white wall and jacket with their shades and all that. I also paint the hair. easy peasy. (I was smart and picked the one with black hair.)
I get to painting the skin starting with the darker colors/shadows, and I realize the skin colors are a bit off, you can tell from the fact half her face is just w h i t e.
now, usually I would fix this by mixing a different shade, or using a darker color and painting it over to blend them, but by then class was basically over cause outlining takes some time.
and thats it... I come back healed the next week and we work on figure portraits. however, I must say the texture of the pallet gives a v e r y nice crosshatched look, and I do like cross hatch.
The half white face reminds me of The Phantom of the Opera with the mask and all.
Copium.
idk, it grew on me, also im too lazy to keep going and I dont have the original picture.
im gonna start posting the rest of the oil paints before I start sending out the digitals. this gives me time to stall- I mean perfect them...
I will not post the figure painting cause those are supposed to be nude apparently and even though I chose the most clothed one (woman in underwear) im not going to risk it. she looked like a discount Bree Larson though. thats all I can describe, it was uncomfortable.
