Edit: I just found this was at one point already a thing.... maybe they should bring it back?
Take the idea with the sparrow course from Grasp of Avarice dungeon (racing the fuses), instead of fuses you are racing other players to the finish line. You could have the event run by Amanda Holliday.
You could make a few different courses based on each world we visit.
Could have special events like pike racing or pike brawls (if you get off you blow up).
Could make the rep unlock different shaders and maybe some different sparrows (capping at rank 30, resetting with the season). Nothing that would upset player power, just a fun thing to do for a change of pace in the game.
IDK lol It's something different.

Heavy pike racing

The idea of custom games like this and fun left when they handed halo to 343. As much as i want to see gamemodes like this and more, it will never happen.
-
You said fun... Bungie don't like that word unless their using it..you will play the game the way they want you to and like it.
-
I would love SRL to come back, you know something different from doing Strikes, Gambit or Crucible for the 9999+ time again ad nauseam
-
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Bungie banned you for even bringing the idea up XD They are VERY against anything having to do with anything before Year 2 of D2.
-
While I would love to see the SRL (Sparrow Racing League) game mode come back to Destiny 2 in some fashion, I doubt it will ever happen. This may be a "hot take" but I don't think the Destiny community at large wants SRL back. I remember the forums during Destiny 1 being hit with requests that resources being spent on SRL be moved over to help produce more strikes and Crucible updates to help with the dry periods between expansions instead. (Keep in mind there were no seasons in D1 so content between DLCs was minimal outside of Raids, Nightfalls, and a few updates to Prison of Elders.) Not to mention players wanted Bungie to figure out what the hell was going on with Crucible, since at the time the special ammo economy was bust and balancing class abilities and weapons was a major issue. SRL was pretty fun at first but its novelty wore out fast outside of seasonal events. Races themselves weren't all that difficult to complete and the rewards were never as good as what you could get out of Raids and Nightfalls. Not to mention the individual in first place didn't really have to try and win. Maintaining the lead was easy so long as you avoided enemies and knew how to hold down left trigger. SRL interest dropped off quickly after its second debut and since then there hasn't been much demand for the event outside of your occasional forum post that gathers upvotes and comments before disappearing into obscurity again. The demand just isn't high enough to support a proper comeback unfortunately.

They have said they wont bring it back. They know we like it, but its hard for them to justify putting it in the game to higher ups. It takes a lot of manpower and time to make stuff for sparrow racing, and thats hard to sell to a corpo when it doesnt make very much money in return.
-
Bungie literally said that in the time it takes to create a sparrow racing map, they can create 2 crucible maps. So, big L.
-
Bungie said at some point they have no plans to bring back SRL. It was very enjoyable when it was around and im sad they won't bring it back.
-
Forget sparrow racing. I want to race ships between destinations in space.
-
I personally have no interest at all in sparrow racing. I thought it sucked in d1 and nothing would really change that. I also think it would be a huge waste of resources for Bungie and the last thing this game needs is more reasons for a Bungie to give us half -blam!- content.
-
I’d rather keep it in D1 where bungie won’t mess with it. They’d mess with it too much if they brought it back and completely screw it up like they manage to with everything else
-
One word: forklift.
-
Awww a kinderguardian... Hugsss
-
Man, I miss SRL so much. It was just such a chill way to mess around while still in the spirit of Destiny. I’d easily spend $10-$20 for access to a revamped (even copy-pasted) version of the activity brought forward to D2, plus that sweet sweet SRL armor 👀

Edited by Scratch: 7/26/2022 3:03:17 PMThis also seems like the easiest and cheapest way for Bungie to look like the heroes here. All B has to do is build or reuse a map.(cut n paste from D1?) No need to waste money/resources to populate with enemies No need to waste money/resources coming up with new mechanics and programing those mechanics Just make(or reuse) a track, let us go bonkers, and say we listened to the feedback and brought back something you enjoy, you're welcome. Players are happy Bungie looks good ...And think of all the silver Eververse would rake in selling sparrows. Just slap on a number and some blinking lights or a few doo hickies on an old sparrow model, bam! $10. These guys eat that crap up. Seems 100% win/win.
-
Sparrow racing would be perfect for guardian games.
-
Destiny is kinda boring , to tell u the truth. Same old grind do it the same way till the cap. Sparrow racing was the best relief from the boredom. Plus you don’t have the A team working on d2 anyway.
-
You meant to say SRL, op? I don't think Bungie is ever going to bring back the sparrow racing event we had in D1. The Timebreaker sparrow from the VoG raid won me many victories & accidental deaths. 🤣
-
Everyone wants this back. It was mostly grind-free and just fun. Therefore it will never return.
-
Well, if they can also bring back Reverly event for springtime, add SRL and some Tower grass then this would be a nice idea.
-
They should totally bring back SRL. The one problem is the Always on Time sparrow. In the event they actually bring SRL back, they need to either make Always on Time unusable in it or come up with a way to make any legendary/exotic sparrow as fast as it is.
-
Fun in PVP?? BURN THE WITCH!! But would be great, especially now with Mario Kart sparrows.
-
Yes the toughest raid boss ever that silly forklift on track
-
No! their time is better spent as well. Go play a racing game if turning left is fun to you.
-
Yea no it died out in d1 that's were it needs to stay rift needs to take a plane back as well
