Rift isn't that hard or "shitty" as people make it sound like here in the Forums. What I diagnose the Rift haters with is "not being used to 6v6 teamplay that requires more than just shooting targets".
Ingame I see people still prioritizing their goals wrong. I see many players not going for a rezz when it is already safe to get the revive. I instead see them crouching to the revive point instead of running. It's not like Destiny 2 Crucible is a fast-paced game activity.
There is no place for doubt, fear and hesitation. Doubt, fear and hesitation will get you most of the time killed in Crucible.
Also I see people trying to play Rift like it is some sort of Team Deathmatch from Call of Duty, which is the complete wrong thing to do. It is a more tactical game mode in which team lives matter more than any kill.
I see people running in and dying, leaving their team at a number disadvantage. I see people not reviving or rallying before they push with the spark. I see even people sometimes so focused on killing stuff that they don't even consider looking around for the spark runner to spot, not to mention to carry the spark itself.
You can't win Rift by headbutting a brickwall (tho Titans will try...)
When both teams are fighting over the spark, it is CRUCIAL that your team not only goes winning out of that firefight, but also REVIVES as many downed team mates before attempting a push. Only in very few cases it is a smart idea to counterpush immediately to the enemy base (depends on Distance).
Also, communication is key. If you want to win the best way, play as a fireteam of 3-6 players. If you want to play in freelance, AT LEAST make sure you have a keyboard plugged in to use the text chat for call outs while being dead!
It is a game mode about number advantage, first picks, united pushing/defending and TACTICS! Not a mode about killing each other in a brain dead, lazy way like clash or control do allow to do.
Improvise, adapt, overcome. The Iron Lords did the same in the Dark Age. Our IRL ancestors could do it to hunt bigger prey. You can't tell me you can't do that too.

Edited by TheArtist: 7/14/2022 7:45:56 PMOr we understand how to play it and simply don't LIKE it. The real issue with Rift is that it just doesn't address what is fundamentally broken about IB. 1. the PVP just isn't enjoyable. Between the Lockdown mechanic in IB Control...and now Rift. 2 The event serves no purpose. IB was popular in D1 because it was a CATCH UP mechanic (lootwise) for single players and for PVP-only players. It was a way to get some of the best gear in the game, for those people who didn't have a clan or a group of friends to run raids with or to run Trials with. But if you were willing to grind your butt off in PVP for a week, you could get gear on par with those end-game activities. Now, the stuff you get from IB is largely trash.....the loot table basically refreshes...never....and the events you hvae to play REALLY are not enjoyable. Which is why I walked away from IB almost 2 years ago. Its sad, because I REALLY used to love it back in D1.
