Hello there Guardians! I'm writing this post because I was inspired by Bungie's "Everyone Can Play" initiative for people with disabilities, which I really appreciate. In fact, it can be said that I live disability situations quite personally, as I have a young nephew affected by autism, and he really loves video games. When I see him play and have fun without being conditioned by his disability, it is just awesome for me too see, but unfortunately there is also a negative side of this, and that's when my nephew due to his limitations, is unable to do certain things or complete some hard activities or stages in video games...and sometimes this is really frustrating for him because I can see it on his face. And that's the reason why I'm writing this post, which I Hope to try to help with, as much as possible, all the special guardians who live with us in the world of Destiny, and try to help them to complete those activities that maybe are too much difficult for them to achieve just by themselves. . I would really like to offer my help for any activity, from the easiest such as patrols or strike, to the most difficult such as nightfall, dungeons, raids, etc.
I really hope that with this small initiative, I can give a few more moments of happiness to all disabled players who are as passionate about Destiny as all of us. Anyone who wants to join to help out is welcome ✌️ Instead for all of you Special Guardians, all you have to do is send me a Bungie or PSN friend request (I play from ps4), otherwise comment this post by writing your destiny nickname and I'll add you as soon as possible 😉 That's it, I would really love this post to stay on trend so that as many people as possible can read it, so if you want to comment or like the post I would really appreciate it ❤️
Thank you everybody, and GG to ALL Guardians!! 👊💪

Edited by SpoonieEzMode: 6/12/2022 1:45:24 PMI'm going to be That Person, and offer some how-to in order to prevent things going in what for me has sometimes been a predictably bad way: - don't 'special' me, please. I'm not 'differently abled' either. It's ok to say disabled. It's not a dirty word. I don't enjoy outing myself, either - I've been invited to things without my consent because people assumed because I struggle to play the game sometimes, they would 'do me a favour'. No, it isn't a favour to drag me to a raid, it's exhausting and I'll pay for it for days afterwards. I've had groups ask some really uncool questions about How Disabled I Am, which honestly isn't anyone's business. I am just trying to play a game, I'm not someone's special 'feel-good' project. And, this is horrible, but it's true - there are people who specifically seek out disabled/ill/neurodiverse people via video games. It's creepy, but it's happened to me and friends more than once. Sometimes, it's wise to be cautious. I play with a very close group of folks because I don't want to have to explain to total strangers why I can't do certain things ingame. They earned that trust by just being good people generally, which helps a tonne. Don't assume everyone's been playing for years - I've never played a shooter since four months ago. I started as physiotherapy, and sometimes it's not been fun at all. But, often, being the only person standing, rezzing everyone else because they forget poor ol' crippled Grandma has been gaming since longer than most have been on the planet is pretty damn entertaining. Underestimate me because of being 'special' and I'll dance be your ghost for a few seconds. All I'm saying is - we aren't a mythical group of people. And there's more of us Spoonies/disabled/neurodiverse people than you think. Just be kind, and that will spread - I've avoided strikes and regular content because of the lack of patience people have with people who don't have them all memorised due to years of playing. And I certainly won't ever step foot in PvP, Gambit or anything else after reading these forums for a few weeks. But I remember the people who wait as I struggle for the umpteenth time with a series of jumps, and who don't zerg ahead and wait for me to catch up when I get lost. I remember who fistbumps with an emote when I give my /thank . Quite a few people do that, so my friend list is growing, though I may never have the energy to join them on their missions, or talk on the mic.

You can add me if you like? I dont do pvp or really raid anymore, but I dont mind helping with Dungeons, nightfalls, Triumphs etc... I'm in New Zealand so may only be able to help in weekends due to timezone differences 🙂 My psn name is the same as on here.

"Special person"? You mean those that argue against sbmm and then complain about Bungie's matchmaking? No, no shout-outs to them because they're TOO special.

Edited by rednayeL: 6/12/2022 12:19:46 AMAnd to anyone that may read this, remember, it could be his nephew you’re playing with in matchmaking, or that kid who can’t seem to understand a basic thing in LFG. Just be nice ok? Don’t let the op do all the heavy lifting, we can all be nice to those in need.

Whenever I read these posts, I try to think of the games overall "theme". We are all guardians selected by the traveler for many reasons. Leadership, strength, ability and thoughtfulness. Having a disability makes no difference to the traveler, you are chosen for a reason. I like to think that, as a group ( guardians) that have a higher purpose after our original death. Aside from the negative responses, that are typically thrown in at random on some of these posts, most are usually supportive. Good to see fellow guardians willing to help whoever, whenever they can. 👍👊
