Do you try to save Video Game NPCs?

I do my best to keep them alive

I help them, but I don't stress about it

If they live, ok. If they die, ok.

I couldn't care less if they die

I kill them myself for fun

When you are playing a game and you have NPC allies, do you try to keep them alive? I myself have always tried my best to help them/protect them. I've even gone so far as to revert to previous checkpoints to save them. How about you? Discuss.
