Here is the feedback:
- Since WQ EVERYONE has heavy all the time.
- the best heavy is ghorn so literally everyone uses it
- invasions ruin the mode - either all 4 players rush to spam rockets at the invader or the invader will get lucky and spam their heavy. Basically no special or primary play because you’re punished for not spamming your infinite rockets.
- primeval health gating is boring and combined with the CONSTANT invasions while primeval is up, the fight is just a back and forth for like 5 minutes.
- no new maps, competitive mode or quick balance to the mode clearly shows that the devs lost the drive to fix gambit yet seem content to push it with uninteresting Labs modes that don’t offer anything different or enticing.
- freelance gambit has made normal gambit take as long as comp to match in which ruins any moments you want to play with a friend.
- freelance has hilarious team balancing that gaslights you into thinking you’re playing against a stack of 4 on your own.
I think most people would rather see a new mode or something fresh and innovative or put more people on improving crucible because all the problems with gambit right now stem from its core and cannot fundamentally be fixed without completely stripping the mode to its bones and rebuilding from scratch. Specifically: Invasions, the primeval, engagements, broken weapons, heavy ammo and variety.

I would rather have menagerie back than gambit updates :).

Don't play?
-
Personally love gambit dredgen guilded x4 don't know why all the hate must be a skill issue 🤔
-
We need a gambit labs without invasions.
-
Just nerf Gambit out of the game. It is a crappy game mode. It is a wannabe troll PvPvE game mode that has no real purpose than being a test concept they felt they needed to add.
-
It doesn't matter who has the prime evil first it actually matters if you run g-horn or eyes of tomorrow.
-
I managed to get Gambit Jadestone recently and immediately went "I'm never playing this again"
-
Bring back Gambit Prime.
-
Skill issue?
-
I thought eveeyone plays Gambit only for the green shaders and emblems. /i But seriously the reckoning extra gambit mode was more fun lmao

Edited by AubsTheBelieber: 4/29/2022 12:10:14 AMI am Dredgen 3 times and all I play is Gambit. (I skipped the season where they introduced sunsetting. I was like "nevermind that -blam!-") Your post is 100% right. I am so -blam!- tired of being spammed with Gjally. I miss primary battles so much. They promised two new maps but never delivered. I don't get why you would hold out on the two new maps? Gambit needs them now. Not only that but they removed the Tangled Shore and Dreaming City map. Why? 6 maps was too much? Bring back the old maps at least. Playing the same four maps gets boring so fast.

My suggestions: 1. Disable Wall Hacks completely or Disable Overshield completely (do one thing only. current wall hacks are ok in my opinion so just disable the overshield or reduce hp of overshield from 80 to 20) 2. When you invade you can only use 1 heavy and 4 special ammo. After that your special and heavy will be disabled. or When you invade you have given 1 heavy and 4 spedwcial ammo instead of your previous reserves and after you finished invasion your previous reserves will be given to you. or When you invade your all reserves will be stored and you have given an ammo box on your spawn at enemy map. Invader have then a choice to get 1 free heavy ammo or fight with primary if he wants. (this one is good) 3. Disable unlimited catchup invades. Invades will be given after motes threshold i.e. after 40 and 80 motes deposited or if Primeval Envoys defeated on the other side.

I like the heavy drop in Gambit, now. Learn how to counter the invader. 🤷♂️
-
They need to cut back the heavy at least a little, and primevils need to no longer do the immune shield when they’re 20% or lower. Those two aspects just really harm the game really. I will say the guaranteed heavy is more fare than random drops from enemies but like just pull it back a little. Make an invader waste all the ammo they’ll probably get in a game to kill a team at the least.
-
Agreed
-
I just want to see an iteration where the invader doesn’t have active cheats e.g. wall hacks and over shields. And there should some kind of risk involved for invaders. As it is they just have every advantage and zero consequences. Make it cost 15 motes to go through the portal. So do you bank them, or spend them? That’s the trade off.
-
I have not touched Gambit since WQ, and suggest y'all do the same. Maybe Sony will notice a lack of participation, maybe not.
-
Controversial ideas to change invasion: - disable heavy while invading, increase health and mobility to compensate - re-enable name visibility while ADS, except perhaps for Snipers and LFRs - dying while invading during the boss phase should heal the invader's Primeval. Ultimately, invading is still a 4v1, so they have to have some kind of advantage, but it is exactly as you've described - there's no reason to use anything other than Gjallarhorn (or Sleeper). You have a solid supply of ammo for them and the ADS changes make it so using long-range primary weapons and special weapons isn't feasible. You can't use close-range guns because it's almost impossible to traverse the whole arena without being killed by enemy heavy, so the only realistic options are your own heavy weapons and a couple of Supers.
-
Why speak of a game mode that should be removed from destiny? Gambit had it day and now most players only go in the garbage for the pinnacle, i know I personally wouldnt even entertain the option to enter gambit if it wasnt for the pinnacle! Its absolute garbage!
-
i'd rather gambit just be deleted from the game.
-
I despise how bad gambit has become. If you don't have a guilded flawless level PvP invader, you lose the game. The catch-up mechanics suck and we just had 3 invasions back to back between summoning primeval and all they did was spam izanagi or gally. Invaders need toned down. Max 4 per match.

Edited by A_mo: 4/28/2022 3:56:49 PMMy computer shut off when I was typing my last post but the main thing I wanted to say is that freelance is so much better to play solo than when it was teams only. I think the matchmaking in freelance combined with the way Gambit is able to do certain things that Crucible has more trouble doing has made the matches feel much more competitive and fair. Oh, I can also see why people don't like the prevalence of heavy ammo but it actually kind of works because it achieves that thing they're always trying to do with making it so lower skilled players have a chance at the same time higher skilled players can still function at their level. So I don't really mind it all that much. I can see how people might not like it though.
-
It's just become Gjallambit. Heavy ammo isn't the essential issue it's the mono-weapon.
-
Honestly I know gambit has fans out there… somewhere… but I personally think it would be better for the game if it was removed. Ever since launch it has never been a popular mode, and if anything it has only been a largely hated mode. No doubt resources are being put towards updating gambit and keeping it going, and I think it’s a waste. I’d rather see those resources put towards crucible or strikes.

Edited by hate n payne: 4/29/2022 2:47:33 AMThe “Contact” activity from Season of the Arrivals should have replaced Gambit with Reckoning being an addition to the content. Gambit is a wash and it honestly needs to be vaulted. I mean how did they dedicate a whole season to the mode for it to still be as garbage as it is. The amount of resources could have been used to design a story that prolonged for the entire season, improved PVP overall with new maps and map redesigns while condensing modes into playlists, improved vendors and expansion of content from planets into end game content with rewards. Could have added: Adept Planetary Weapons and Armor Adept Lost Sector and Adventures loot Adept IB and Comp loot Adept Tower Vendor loot Exotics and Mods reworks We need QOL updates that take the content in game and makes it feel fresh and renewed while the new seasons bring in content that is new to the game.

Gambit just needs to get vaulted at this point.
