I think there has always been a time where you are just playing Destiny, and you try to melee an enemy, but it doesn't always work. I run into this problem way too often in the crucible. I will almost have defeated an enemy guardian, when all of a sudden my melee doesn't work!!! They get away and end up killing me. There was another time where I was playing on warlock. I was running a devour build (pre-void 3.0) and it wasted my melee ability! I didn't even kill him!!! He was at the health to die from one punch, but he didn't die, and my ability was used up! Another scenario; one time I having a 1v1 with a friend. Everything was going usual. And then, I melee'd him as I was jumping over him, but I didn't actually hit him!!! I had the lunge, and the animation for stabbing him with my hunter knife! I thought it was internet at first, but then I was playing PvE and I ran into the same problem! I tried to melee an enemy and I did no damage (aces the check list; Lunge; and Animation)!!!
One solution that I had in mind for this problem is to make it so if you have an animation and the lunge of a melee that hits an enemy (with the exception of phalanxes and knights), that it should do damage regardless of distance after melee-ing!
