Hello..!
I love glaives… you probably hate them, for a handful of valid/invalid reasons. So here are my suggestions on how to improve their existing functions, while redesigning their exotic variations — in a more viable fashion. I’ll keep it short & sweet. So without further ado; let’s read.
GENERAL GLAIVE CHANGES:
1. Fix Projectile hit, & shield energy detection
2. Fix Shield activation delay, while sliding, midair, & last minute activation
3. Spawn with 15% shield energy
4. Merge the “range” stat into the “velocity” stat
( This one actually came true so thank you bungie 💜 )
5. When your melee is fully charged — while holding up your energy shield; press ??? to lunge your character towards the opponent, striking them with an elemental melee attack that staggers on impact. This would come at the cost of your charged melee.
( In pvp; this strike would deal 190 damage, & stagger the opponent. In PvE; this would stun combatants, & deal 70% more damage than a base melee combo. )
6. All damage multiplier weapon perks now interact with melee hits & final blows
7. Increase projectile speed by 7% for legendaries. 15% for exotics.
( This one actually came true so thank you bungie 💜 )
8. Melee exotic armor now interacts with melee hits & final blows
( This one actually came true so thank you bungie 💜 )
10. Melee combo can now be quickly
followed up with a projectile attack, & vice versa
11. Projectiles now have 3% slight tracking & curve angles
12. Increase melee lunge distance by 1 meter. 2 meters for the exotics.
( Bungie explained why this can’t work )
EXOTIC GLAIVE CHANGES:
1. Grant access to their exotic perk, through a percentage tier system. Each successful tier increases the potency of each respective exotic glaive perk.
( higher % prior to activating the exotic perk = a more potent outcome — via Arc chaining & damage, Solar noble healing orb amount, &
Void Bubble duration. )
• Successful hits with the projectile grants 34% shield energy on exotic glaives only.
( Requiring 1 less hit to reach maximum shield energy — compared to their legendary counterparts. )
• You may activate their exotic perks at any point between 20% through 100%.
• Activating their exotic perk at tier 1 ( between 20% & 65%) will have the lowest output. Tier 2 (between 66% & 89%) will provide a decent bump in overall potency. Tier 3 (over 90%) will provide the maximum amount of output for each respective glaive.
2. Melee final blows with all exotic glaives refund 1 round into the magazine, & generate 11% shield energy.
IMPORTANT TOOL TIPS:
1. Glaive shield energy negates 75% of all incoming damage — & stacks with other damage reducing perks.
2. Continuously holding your glaives shield energy will last for an upwards of 10.0 seconds — if the shield duration is fully crafted.

I agree with all of this, Glaive needs some serious tuning to be better, all of these changes wouldn't make it OP it would just now be viable in comp
