This is something that honeslty shouldn't need to be discussed. Today I was at my 7th game on a flawless card, and one of my teammates straight up left the match 2 rounds in, leaving the other 2 of us to loose against a full 3-player team and our flawless cards.
(Freelance for reference)
Therefore, when someone leaves a flawless game intentionally, it shouldn't count against, this way no one looses a flawless due to a teammate leaving. Those who leave intentionally should get slapped with a long ban that extends each match they leave before completion.
Could this exact thing be abused? Maybe. But it being a freelance only thing could help lower abuses as you cannot see the cards of teamates, and helps you not have your runs ruined by someone who quit in a 1-2 match for no reason.

i saw a top player say maybe we should take away flawless. that way you are not penalized for a loss whether someone leaves or not. i know this goes against trials the way it is now they could just require you to win 15 games or 20 but they don't have to be consecutive. what would this do? it would increase the number of people that would be playing trials. we have done this flawless for trials for a long time maybe think about changing it up. it would cut down on cheating and dramatically increase the player base. it's not fair if someone leaves the team and you get a loss. there is nothing wrong with changing the way game modes work if benefits everyone. some will not like this post but it would solve a lot of problems and make trials a better game mode.

Ever think they could have been kicked? Lagged out or had a power outage? Imagine getting a massive time put because of something like that… we all know the destiny servers aren’t the most reliable. Ether clutch up or find a team. I’ve been in the position of a 2v 3 for flawless in freelance and be and my teammate just completely played off each other and clutched up. The sad thing is the game literally started us out at 2v3 so we have a very intense 4 to 4 game that we ended up winning. It was 100% the best flawless I had ever had.
-
It’s a hard one to figure out, great that you punish the ones leaving but then if there kicked suspiciously they are punished for no reason. Also if no penalty if someone leaves, just get someone to leave and you don’t loose a round on your card.

Edited by Infamous067: 4/13/2022 1:50:20 AMAt the very least, the alacrity perk should activate whenever one player leaves their team. I could live with that. Sure you still have that one other player but you guys are already at a massive disadvantage, the alacrity perk activating would balance it out just a bit to give the 2 players a fair chance at keeping the fight competitive.

I would say yes to this except if people are in a fireteam together. I feel like this would be extremely easy for people to cheat with.
-
I support a penalty for qutting greater than the current one, but this is a bad idea for reasons already stated by others here. I appreciate the OP's sentiment though.

Let me guess… Freelance 😂

This would likely be abused, but i do agree SOMETHING needs to be done. I went flawless this week in freelance and the amount of players that left or gave up was -blam!-. I think something should be done to further punish players for leaving a match, a penalty that would affect the gameplay would be much more effective in preventing abuse. Id say it should be set up to lower your light cap for the activity each time you leave a match. For example: leave a match, you get a screen that says something like “you left early, light cap lowered by 5 for future matches this weekend” and i think if you leave 3 times you should be locked out of trials for the weekend It makes no sense that people can screw over their team like they can in freelance. Either you’re good enough to win, or you reset like a regular person and hope for the best on the next card

I get why you think this is a good idea. However, this would lead to people quitting matches just to preserve someone else's flawless. Trials is the worst about exploiting rules. Give people the ability and they will abuse it. Freelance or no, people will find a way.
-
OP: you’re spot on…but only in Freelance Trials. Back to Freelance… Imho: if a player quits a match before it’s concluded, a big red Q and/or a red ‘light tag’ appears on their character / screen, which would be plain for all to see for at least that player’s next 7 matches. This would highlight a potential problem player to the other teammates, and give them an option to remove that player from their team whilst the game continues searching for a fresh replacement. If that same Q player quits another match - before those 7 penalty matches are played in full, the quitter receives a ban for the entirety of that weekend’s Trials competition. The a/m would apply to Trials and any other variant, including Freelance Trials. Just my 2d worth. YMMV. Cheers! MDGA 👈

They really should. Lots of games have similar mechanics. Apex legends does it in ranked. If you load into a game 1 or more players short. You get loss protection. So a loss doesn't drop your rank points for that game. Destiny should do something similar. People say it can be abused to cheese to flawless as a team. Just have someone quit or disconnect if you know you're gonna lose that game. But honestly as bad as connections in Destiny are and with the constant series x crashes going on. It'd prolly be even, you're gonna get a card wrecked at least once every weekend due to disconnects or crashes.
-
Yea.. cause that wouldn't be exploited at all.. oh -blam!- we are about to lose hey buddy leave so I don't lose my flawless.. or random fireteam same scenario instead rand I kicked to save flawless.. sane scenario with 3 randoms someone is dosed to save flawless... as much as it sucks sometimes losing your flawless game to bs like that just got to reset anf on to the next run

The amount of people that would leave solely to deny the other team a win, especially in blowout wins would be huge. I can respect the idea, and it’s for sure frustrating, but punishing the enemy team for winning is a good way to breed toxicity, and punish players who did nothing wrong. Imagine you’re on your final game, and are up 4-1. Then an enemy decides they don’t want you to win, and leaves. Not only is you’re victory taken away from you for no reason, but now there’s a chance you’re denied flawless even though you earned it already. Seems like a deeply flawed solution IMO.

I altered the post based on some comments. However, not that this isn't a perfect solution and I know it is, but it would be nice for the players who choose to play by the rules of the game. If people are gonna take advantage of them, they will no matter what. I see it as better to help those who choose to play the game correctly than to punish everyone because of mechanic abusers.

Nah, thatll never work. Good try.... This topic has been discussed for years....
-
Lol nah, it'll balance itself out. I've been on both sides of the coin, just gotta go again.
-
As I feel your pain they will never do that. Let's say they did and you knew you were outmatched and had someone leave to get another chance. They would have a hell of a time finding out was it connection, rage quit, or in the case you are wanting, another shot due to jumping out. Best to go with a 3 man team.

Edited by Rufas-1: 4/12/2022 4:40:47 PMWhat they should do... 1) The first player to quit a match takes a loss and receives a quitters penalty as it does currently. 2) Anyone in the fireteam of the person who quit also takes a loss and receives the quitters penalty. This prevents players from abusing this to protect a teammate from a loss. 3) If the quitter leaves mid round then that round ends immediately as a tie. 4) Before the next round starts the remaining fireteam leaders of the team with the quitter are given the opportunity chose if they want to forfeit or not. If all remaining players on that team chose to stay then the match continues as normal, otherwise the match ends with the team that had the quitter not taking a loss and the other team getting a win. 5) If another player leaves after the match has continued then the steps above are repeated. This gives players the option to continue the match if they want. Some teams may still be able to win being shorthanded and other players may not care if they win but want the vendor rank points (Trials). 6) If a full fireteam of 3 leaves then the match just ends as it does today with the remaining team receiving the win. This gives players the option to continue the match if they want. Some teams may still be able to win being shorthanded and other players may not care if they win but want the vendor rank points. This should be done regardless of where people are at in their cards. This should also apply to Survival. EDIT: basically re-did the post per some feedback.

Edited by max: 4/12/2022 1:32:55 PMIf someone leaves the match on my flawless game, he should be guaranteed no usable drop for the week I'd feel much better knowing that tbh and there's no room for abusement
-
I can’t agree considering how easily this can be abused.
-
-
No. And there should be actual penalties for leaving
-
It'd get abused.
