Nova Warp's initial cast should be the full charge AoE or cast faster

In this clip, I cast the super while literally touching the opponent, but he simply walks backwards, avoid all damage, and guns me down before I can even move. That's just silly. Fist of Havok is a comparable roaming super with an attack on cast, and it does not get this reduced AoE on cast. It also does not require charge up time to deal its attack like Nova Warp. I think it is reasonable to change the initial Nova Warp cast blast to be the large version, or to increase the cast animation speed. edit: I would add that changing the initial blast is not the only solution or issue with Nova Warp. The whole super could stand some tuning. Currently it is a very high skill, very high risk, and at best normal reward for the effort super compared to basically everything else, imo. I don't mind it being a difficult-to-use super, but I do mind that is does not seem to have a commensurate level of reward for the effort required.

  • If you're not using blink with Nova Warp, it's bad.

Nova warp is the only one that does this without being a problem.

      • I have one critique on the clip you showed, but I will say that I think Nova Warp needs a buff in PvP. Its too slow in general, both in terms of closing gaps with opponents, and the charge time. Its dreadfully slow if you aren't blinking, and even the blink barely has any range. Then if you manage to close the gap, you'll typically be gunned down after your first burst, if not sooner. I agree the the cast should be the full AoE. The one problem with your clip - it looks like you got melee'd (or at least I think it was a melee) right before casting the super. I'm talking like, withing a second of the cast. You're health was already down to ~60% before actually entering the super, which is part of why you died (although given how fast he killed you, I think its fair to say you likely would've been killed even at full health). It seems like the damage resistance is much lower than a faster super like Arc Staff.

        • Fist of havoc also has a higher energy cost per use, it's ground limited, and does lower damage per aoe to where damage fall off has a bigger impact. Fist of havoc also doesn't have any way to heal itself like nova warp does and has a lower roaming duration. This isn't me saying that nova warp is better because it's not (exclusively because it has no light attack that doesn't suck), but rather that nova warp shouldn't just BE fist of havoc. Dawnblade is what happens when you take base hammers, give it more maneuverability, a longer duration, and more swings. This is essentially what nova warp is, only it severely lacks a quick way to kill and is one of and the biggest flaw it has. Cause fist of havocs aoe is pretty much just for the cast and then you mash rb because it's way more reliable.

            It should last a bit longer in pve .. they should reduce the energy cost slightly too for a full charged black bolt burp .. also needs a speed increase & the ability to move a little bit more while charging

          • Honestly this is a really good point, I never thought of that. The funny thing is other people will claim how nova warp has a blink to move around while titans don’t but I honestly have a way harder time shooting down a titan spamming the light attack compared to a nova warp warlock.

            • The problem with Nova Warp is, it has no armor (or sure as hell feel like it has no armor) whatsoever in comparison to the other "melee" supers. As you said, First of Havoc ON CAST can literally clear a room and then go on about it's day. If anything Nova Warp is terrible up close as on cast it just Ragdolls people back 5ft giving them more time to blast you with their guns while you sit there like an idiot trying to charge up again. I honestly don't see Nova Warp ever being better than how it is now. Bungie straight nuked it into oblivion and spent the better half of 2 years making it usable again (same with Shadebinder). It just seems like Warlocks aren't meant to have any "fun" supers outside of Top Tree Dawnblade. I mean you literally don't see any Warlock supers at all in pvp outside of Dawnblade and Nova Bomb. Outside of Mayham, I haven't so much as seen any Arc Supers or even Shadebinder at all in months. Then they'll probably nerf Dawnblade when Solar 3.0 comes out so I dunno.
