It seems the Darkness won't shut up, when will the Traveler start communicating with us in an actual, meaningful way? I think it's time. We have pyramid ships all over the solar system, whole planets have vanished and the giant pingpong ball hovering over the city doesn't say or really do anything.
Bungie, is the Traveler an actual character in the story or just something to look at when we're turning in bounties for Zavala? I personally need both sides of the story; not just darkness heavy.

The Traveler actively avoids direct communication because it doesn’t want to influence our decision making. The exact opposite reason why the Witness won’t shut up. It’s attempting to manipulate us for its own end. What happened with the Hive should highlight this.
-
I’ve said this time and time again. It has no need to communicate with us. We are simply it’s bodyguards. When Darkness comes knocking at our doorstep again, there will be a Second Collapse, and the Traveler WILL choose another race to be it’s protector
“The best voices,” she said, with infinite grief and unending hope, “never let themselves be heard at all. This lesson is worth teaching again and again. The choice is never mine. It is always yours.”
<Perhaps this logic is flawed, but it's the one it works by.>

What if the Traveler's ability to communicate is connected to the Ghosts. Maybe when it originally created the Ghosts it used a good portion of its own consciousness to do so, putting it in a coma of sorts. I have a theory that everytime a Ghost dies, it's little light (soul) reunites with the Traveler, making it a little more conscious every time. A lot of guardians had true deaths during the Great Disaster on Luna and during the Red War, which is when the Traveler woke and beat the breaks off of Gaul. I think the more and more Ghosts we loss (even the ones that sided with the Hive) the more and more active the Traveler will become. I guess we'll see in time.
-
Maybe the Traveler can’t. The same way the sun can’t talk to us.
-
Should it just turn around and have a face and start speaking to us.
-
It being a bystander is part of the story right now
-
It has spoken to us quite a couple times through visions. After ghual attacked it helped us get the light back. During forsaken it spoke to us once more in the vision of light mission. The speaker said similar things during the red war campaign as he revived visions of light. He stated he would step down from being the speaker once the traveler woke up. The reason that it didn't fight savathuns ritual is because it had to take a neutral position in that manner. As it probably wanted us and the lucent hive to eventually become allies so it really couldn't lean one way or the other. But when we won it went back to the city. The traveler sees the lucent brood eventually becoming a Allies to help fight the witness and its army. Plus savathun already saved the traveler so it didn't want to fight her. As a matter of fact one of the lucent brood in the lucent tales lore book didn't want to kill a downed guardians ghost. The traveler will probably communicate with us more. I belive it understands that guardians sometimes have to use darkness (Stasis, Deepsight, Rhulks Beam) in order to protect humanity. As long as it dosen't corrupt us that is. When rhulk tried to corrupt a ghost the traveler hijacked the ghost and told him to go away in a forceful tone. So yes I still belive that the traveler wants to protect humanity but wants to explore all sources in building an army to protect itself and humanity from the witness.

The fact that it hasn’t said anything is part of the story atm. Is a god still something you should worship even if it never speaks to you? How about if it helps your supposed enemy? Do you still have faith in something even if you can’t understand why it does what it does?
-
Why would you communicate with someone you are trying to break up with?
-
Traveler did talk to us when we went to Io during that one quest line that gave us the bottom row subclasses options for void, arc and solar

Edited by VEXTERMINATOR-btd203: 3/27/2022 10:44:25 AMThere's just alot of things I really want Bungie to elaborate on at this point. It doesn't have to be huge...just something. Here's a little list . 1. (The obvious) What is the Traveler's view of current events. 2. Could Captain Jacobson become an ally so we can possibly find non-hostile Vex. There's got to be cool Vex out there. They can't all just be cannon fodder. 3. Why did we leave poor Failsafe on Nessus, when we maybe could have transferred it to the Tower to aid us. (A functioning golden age AI is kind of a big deal.) Imagine a little story with Failsafe, Captain Jacobson and Exo Rasputin all working together to create new advanced weaponry. Like Golden Age(Sturm)/Ikelos/Vextech hybrid weapons. I could come up with more but I literally just woke up and I need some coffee. Have a good morning everybody👍

Edited by Kestrel, King of Excrement: 3/27/2022 5:28:51 AMIt spoke to the Speakers in the form of dreams.

Edited by Tâxx, Herald of the IRS: 3/26/2022 8:34:46 PMThe Traveler actually did once in Forsaken. During the first subclass mission the Traveler said something that can be summed up as "you didn't take Oryx's Throne, will you stand with me against the Darkness?" Be a Disciple of the Dark trying to discover secrets of a Ghost and then Traveler will speak to you.

"actions speak louder than words" /unknown all you need to do is think about what the traveler has done and what it continues to do. we are gifted with the knowledge that we are stuck in an endless loop. we also know that when the going gets tough, the traveler gets going. i have considered the possibility that the traveler does not like our sol system and that it is a parasitic entity. the ultimate puppet master who is catalyzing the entropic cycle of sol via good vs bad dogma. stealing the fractal sols from the dead and/or using the emptied vessels/bodies as weaponized puppets aka "flying monkeys". why? to save our solar system from alien space pirates? maybe but a half truth possibility at best. the only thing that the traveler wants is to feed on anything and everthying it can. so i think that is why it doesn't say much. if it said anything face to face it might risk triggering a chain reaction of memories, such as the traveler is the farmer (gardener + winnower) and it is vampiric in nature to sol. "feed me! FEED ME!" the plant shouts at Seymour in the movie 'Little Shop of Horrors'. in this case, the plant is the traveler.
-
Someone’s missed a very important distinction between the two entities. The Witness is attempting to manipulate us, to turn Guardians to its way of thinking. The Traveler however doesn’t, it’s leaving the choice in our hands, trusting that if it comes to it we shall make the right choice.
-
It takes on the form of a hawk during the hawkmoon questlines if that helps
-
The witness will commune with the traveler and turn it into a pyramid ship.
-
He has only 2 words for us and I'm pretty sure the 2nd one is "off" or "you"
-
Our character is the main protagonist in a galaxy wide conflict and ya lucky if they've said 20 words in the last year lol, You got no chance Bungie are giving the big space ball god a voice.
-
The Traveler communicated via the Speaker. He dead! Hunter Vanguard, he dead too! LMAO!!! They're making things up as they go! LMAO!!!
-
I feel like it communicated pretty damn loud and clear when it sent ghosts out to the hive and was willing to let savathun teleport and bind it. Think about it, it reduced ghaul to atoms because he put a belt on it. if it didn't want to get moved and bound by savathun it would have done the same. Clearly it wants to leave us and has no faith we can protect it, which to be fair is justified I would destroy it in a heart beat
-
Didn't it literally give us hawkmoon
-
Traveler bad shh...

I’m sure we’ll have the reveal in Lightfall, but I’d like Bungie to release some lore entries like the Dreams of Alpha Lupi. They were really interesting !
