I bear a heavy heart, and have been struggling to write this, but with permission of his closest friends and family I wanted to share the story and honor of a man who was courageous, honest, unbendingly loyal, fiercely faithful, and deeply loved. It is with pain in my chest and tears in my eyes I share the memory and passing of Deception nf, passing just a couple weeks shy of witch queens launch after having battled with his health for some time. This man was a Vietnam war veteran, and as such with all going on in the world, it’s important we humble ourselves in place of a person who gave himself to the whole of his nation, and for peace in a war he never wanted, to think of what things he saw and never spoke of.
His two closest friends had been gaming with him for a staggering 14 years, all the way back from the early days of warface, I met this wonderful person through them in a game called defiance over 8 years ago just after turning 19 and getting my first full time job, he watched my growth in life through the years, and I often played with him hours a day. Over time as defiance lost support and eventually closed down, he found a new home in destiny, where he spent almost all his free time grinding away at anything, getting occasionally frustrated at some rogue bullets. He enjoyed every moment in this game as it’s where he found peace, even more so when he was with his friends.
To speak of him as those who were close would remember him, he was someone who held to his word, and was kind to all, he cared very deeply for those around him , and shared feelings with those who succeeded or failed, and offered advice when it was needed. His experience of life and loss coupled with great compassion filled his soul and the hearts of all the lives he touched. He had an unbending will, and a laugh that radiated joy to anyone to hear it. If ever there was a man worthy of memory, take a moment and stand at attention, say a prayer, and look to the skies, as the heavens have gained another angel. He is now again reunited with his wife to watch the journey of all those to come after.
As far as his life in destiny? Well, let’s just say he had a certain pension for blowing things up with a certain toaster, in crucible alone he had over 25,000 kills on it, it was, by an far his favorite weapon, He hardly ever unequipped it. So take aim and raise high your jotunns and fill the skies with a display worthy of royalty to celebrate the devotion and sacrifice of a man who was truly one in a million.
