Re-downloaded and played Destiny 2 for 15-ish hours before deciding that I was interested enough to buy a few packs of DLC, including the Witch Queen and 30th Anniversary Bundle.
Made the purchase on the Steam client while the game was running, but when the content didn't automatically unlock in game, I assumed a quick re-launch of Destiny 2 was in order to get it to sync my purchases.
Just beyond the "Press Enter" screen, I was presented with an "Installing Content" page. Thought, "aha, I was right, I'll just go grab a bite while this handles its business". I eventually came back to the attached screenshot, claiming that my game content was unreadable due to a "beagle" error and my game needed a complete reinstallation.
Some quick Googling left me very confused, as "beagle" appeared to be a PS4 hard drive error, not a PC issue. But all the same, decided to troubleshoot as follows:
- Relaunched the game = Same Result
- Ran game file verification through Steam and relaunched the game = Same Result
- Rebooted computer, uninstalled Destiny 2, cleared Steam cache, re-downloaded Destiny 2 (all 80 some GB, much to the annoyance of my internet), rebooted computer again just to be sure, and relaunched = Same Result
- Installed latest Nvidia Drivers (supposedly optimized for Witch Queen) with a CLEAN install (non-overwrite) = Same Result
- Followed information in this guide https://help.bungie.net/hc/en-us/articles/360048720232-Destiny-2-PC-Known-Issues to try and find a particular file in the steamapps folder that might be causing trouble = Did not find this file in either location, Same Result
At this point, I'm at a bit of a loss. I'd really appreciate it if the game I had JUST decided I enjoyed enough to spend over $100 upgrading for new content didn't IMMEDIATELY break to the point that I couldn't even access my character screen. Guess I'll just go bang my head against Elden Ring until Bungie Eng sorts it out...

Update to the update: I got to play for 5 hours before the issue came back. Back to square 1 Bungie, your move.

UPDATE: Uninstalling using CCCleaner and reinstalling ON A DIFFERENT DRIVE seems to have resolved this issue.
