Debuff the person directly hit by the arrow - they take 1 poison per tick with the debuff - this lasts 2 seconds (exactly as long as the poison lingers for), meaning that the bow will not one shot most guardians, and the damage will be about in line with Wishender - Projected damage output of 160 (152 + 8 ticks of 1 damage)
Increase poison damage in the cloud by 2 per tick (5 poison per tick for those that are in the cloud) - Projected damage output of 40 (8 ticks of 5 damage) should the poisoned guardian not be struck by a second Le Monarque arrow.
This means that you'll be able to deal up to 200 damage over 2 shots on 2 enemies if you time them right - the caveat being that you'll lose out on damage if you don't wait for the last tick of poison from your first shot.
If I'm right on how much health + shield you have with each resilience tier - if you hit the second shot just after the 6th poison tick, you'll kill guardians 3rd tier resil and lower (190), after the 7th you'll kill at 6th tier resil and lower (195) and you'll kill all but maximum resilience guardians if you time your shots perfectly (200).
This takes away the main current issue of one shot lemon, but maintains the original purpose of the bow

It doesn't really need a nerf the only thing that makes it dumb is as always the top of the meta handcannons. They're high handling and high body shot damage makes it where you can hit them in the head with the LM then switch in what it seems like .5 seconds and body shot with a hc for a kill at long range. If it weren't for the easy clean up method we have with it, it'll be perfectly fine.

Honestly, I don't find it needing much of a nerf in PvP. I'm still holding faith that the catalyst coming will be an intrinsic Overload break, as it's already darn good in PvP, and it would make it a PvE mainstay as well.

Everyone claims monarque is the very best bow in the game but honestly, yes the poison makes it good but its just a bow at the end of the day. If bungie nerfs monarque, I can use another heavy hitting bow like subtle calamity or the other bow that was a ritual not too long ago and still clap those cheeks. The real issue is the swap combo, not the actual bow itself. A simple headshot from a hard hitting bow will take more than half your health and I can just follow up with a body shot from my 120 or a headshot from my 140 and still kill you almost instantly. Monarque is not the only bow in the game able to swap lol, its the only EXOTIC pvp bow thats great in pvp. Think about it guys, would you guys really use monarque if it wasn’t exotic? I know for a fact a ton of players are just addicted to that yellow color from the exotics.

I've watched a load of pvp videos specifically about Le Monarque. Headshot and handcannon body shot does the job, I've yet to see a single headshot kill from Monarque. It's not D1 pre-patch Thorn that's for sure, maybe just up your resilience, our armor allows for that now.

Or just make it so the poison can't deal the killing blow, that'd probably fix most of the complaint with it

I love bows in PvP, and I almost exclusively run Lemon nowadays. I absolutely love that weapon, and would choose it over others in a heartbeat. However… I agree that the one-shot kills need to go. Anybody who is serious about bows in PvP knows that the main draw to this bow isn’t the ability to OHK. That’s just over the top, and while I do run CWL builds to be able to get those one-shots (I’m not going to purposely handicap myself) I’d be more than fine letting them go. Where was there any official talk of it receiving a nerf?

Reduce tick damage and impact damage so it cannot one shot with the standard damage buffs - high energy fire, empowering rift etc. Massively reduce aim assist and cone angle. FYI - I love the weapon and use to use it a lot
