A tall awoken man with chalk-white skin collapses to the floor, grabbing his head and screaming loud enough to echo through the Leviathan.
"What happened?" A woman demands. Her voice sounds rather like the voice that is always in Thora's head. Is this woman the one speaking to her? She is short but somehow she just seems very powerful, with her porcelain skin and cropped grey hair, and blue eyes much colder than Mama's.
"I don't know! He just fell," Another woman responds. She has short black hair and white stripes across her eyes.
The man's eyes open wide. He calms. Then he speaks.
"We need you. Return to us."
Who's he talking to?
He's talking to the Traveler. These are the people who are trying to get it back.
"You chose us before. Please, give us another chance."
The man closes his eyes and rubs his head.
"It intends to run," the man says, standing and regaining his composure.
"What are we gonna do?" The black-haired woman asks.
The man releases a deep, focused breath. "Take it back. By force."
"Launch the harness!" The powerful woman commands as her crew gets to work.
It fires as the Traveler becomes aware, burning with a rich, luminous glow. Too bright to keep staring. Thora shields her eyes with a metal hand.
The Leviathan shakes, and I grab onto the wall to keep from falling.
The light fades, and her eyes adjust. Sure enough, the harness has latched onto the sphere like a barnacle, the six arms gripped tight. The Leviathan erupts in applause. Thora looks around for the black-haired woman, but can't find her in the mass of bodies.
"We're coming home, Ikora," The man says pridefully.
Just there, lurking in the background, with the others who seem to have also been guardians, who is that? Thora tries to focus in on him. Black hair, golden eyes-
"Daddy!" Thora cried, then looked around. She was in the bed with Lidy and Cal. She was dreaming of the future again. She sighed, and pulled out her sketchbook to record the dream. Whose perspective had this dream been from? Usually when she dreamed of all her family it was from her own perspective, and when she dreamed of the things Daddy was doing over there wherever he was, it was from his Ghost's perspective, but this time she had seen it from inside a stranger. An Exo stranger, judging from the metal hand she had covered her eyes with.
The door opened, and Mama came in. "Thora?" She whispered.
"Hi," Thora whispered back, quietly so Lidy and Cal wouldn't wake up. "I'm drawing a dream I had."
Mama came and looked at her drawing. "Zavala," she muttered, "And Mara? Working together? And.... who's that guardian?"
"I don't know."
"Hm. Well, anyways, I came in here to tell you, the Queen, Mara, sent a message saying I can go to the palace and plead my case. I think.. I think it would be better to leave you three here. You'll be safe. Unless... have you seen anything bad happening here?"
Thora shook her head. "I never saw here. We weren't supposed to come here, we were supposed to stay and get eaten by monsters. You changed everything and now I don't know what's gonna happen. But that's a good thing- I didn't want to watch them eat you and get dragged away!"
"They were going to eat me, but keep the three of you?"
"No, they ate Cal and Lidy too," Thora said, feeling very happy that this had not happened, "Just me they took away. They took me to a big brown bug lady. I think it had something to do with the voice in my head."
"Savathun," muttered Mama. "Great."
Thora looked back down at her drawing. "Did you say this is the Queen you're going to talk to?"
"Yeah."
"I think she's the one who's been talking to me." Thora watched the puzzled expression on Mama's face deepen to concern. "In my dream her voice sounded like the voice."
"Wierd... I'll ask her about it, if I get the chance. Anyways." Mama hugged her. "Oatmeal's on the stove. I trust you to take care of your siblings, my big girl. You're so brave. I'll be right back. I love you."
"I love you too, Mama," Thora whispered, hugging her back. Mama had to come back. If Mama didn't come back, they would be all alone.
