This change is going through as the code has already been written

Post you cancelled your preorder and will not buy any new content if the orb mods are implemented
Problem solved
If not they will simply walk it back a little ie: change the mods slots required from 4 to 2 or something
Every nerf does nothing but drag out the amount of time it takes you to complete activities
This change will be no different as it is just another super nerf that they can easily manipulate

Taking orbs away allows bungie to make more interesting weapons, also, saying you canceled your WQ pre order here wont change anything...
