Orb mods are highly unnecessary and will hurt the game more than help it.

These mods only further amplify an issue introduced with holders tbh. Nobody uses them because there is no room on armor to support the sheer energy cost and their inferiority over scav mods. It’s going to be the same here, nobody wants to remove finders since they are just too superior. If the mod worked for all guns then maybe but they will only work for specific elements which is even worse since MAX 2 guns will make orbs. Although the artefact change is good, it’s another 1 step forward and 2 steps back with the orb nerf…

    They need to remove the “same infinity or elemental burn” nonsense. Just another limitation for a game that is meant to be a RPG. This is the reason why Elemental Wells can’t reach their max potential because you have to match the same elemental type.

    • Only way I can see it working is adding a slot in MW armor with no cost (like individual weapons now) There’s way too much that is helmet dependent as it is. It only makes sense since the inception of transmog and the upcoming ability to change affinities to reduce vault bloat. They can’t keep increasing armor stats and transmog exists to motivate new armor acquisition. They just changed mod cost as it is. There is another slot on “adept” armor but no power increase to accommodate. Now they want to add another? It’s not like it’s going to be a “meaningful choice”. They’ve tuned abilities generation and mods to MW orbs as an absolute requirement. If anything, a reg mod makes it a major nerf. I dunno bout all this

    • FACTS!!! There is no room for more mods on our armor. Heavy is 3, energy weapon is 2 , stat is 3-5 depending on what stat , then you have well, warmind, charged w light for a build ….this is an rpg, you said right. We want to form a build for our guardians…. Now u want us to to pay more energy cost into what most have dumped 10s of thousands of upgrade mat’s into already. YOU HAVE TO UP THE MAX ENERGY per piece of gear. … I think 12 total would be the bare minimum and acceptable. More would of course be better. But not trying to push it , we could make something work w 12. Please consider. BUMP ALL POSTS ABOUT MASTERWORKS and ENERGY COST ON ARMOR

      This past season when they ninja nerfed scavenger mods they said “ammo finder mods are still cheap”. Now they take away ammo finder mods. Fu%#cking pathetic

      Wasn't weapon crafting gonna be a thing. Wanna bet creating orbs is gonna be a perk on new 'crafted' weapons later so you can basicly delete your entire vault. Sunsetting 3.0, not only for weapons but armor to. Mark my words!

    • I hope bungie, not their moderators, actually reads this post and comments. The idea is decent, it has its heart in the right place, but the functionality of it is horrible. Bungie desperately wants to force players to use elemental wells instead of orbs of power bc elemental wells require mods to work but orbs are just always there to use. Orbs of power help generate your super so now we don’t even have that luxury and are required to do 1 billion damage or wait 8 minutes for our supers now. Bungie also really thought the helmet was the best possible spot, like we don’t already have mods that will make it break your ability to beat end game content.

      • Agree, it's a straight need for PVP IMO. Hand Cannon targeting costs 5 and no doubt they will have the orb generation cost more than 2. Thus hurting stats and potential charged with light mod space etc

        This is al done to get another armour grind going with an extra mod slot. Most players already have good stat armour so they don't have to grind for new armour anymore. The couple of exotics without a masterwork is just the excuse for this real reason. Trying to package this nerf as a positive for the players. On top of that not all weapons will be creating orbs anymore. Just a certain element. Beter get back in the grasp of avarice for mediocre stat armour but with that extra slot.

          I love how they acted like it was a good thing. "many different weapons ask you to burn hard-earned Masterwork materials on a weapon that you may only be using for a few hours, just to generate Orbs. That … seemed like a tall order" Except now your weapon damage type has to match your helmet affinity just to slot the mod. (One that you could be using for ammo finders or power preservation etc) That means only one weapon at a time will create orbs, unless your special and heavy run the same element. Well played Bungie, you really did us a favor.

            What am I missing here? Where does this leave CWL mods? Are we now supposed to only carry a weapon with one type of affinity in energy and heavy? What about Kinetic slot? This leaves us one weapon to use. Why mess with it at all? If they must do this I would move ammo finder and targeting mods to weapons with extra slots to cover that.

          • Just another way for them to control and diminish people from creating builds to get their abilities back faster. Over a completely stupid idea that no one in the community wants. I mean if you putting it on the helmet then my helmet better have 3 extra slots on it with 20 energy to work with so i can roll with orbs on each. Unless they have something they haven't told us yet that makes up for it then it's just a completely stupid thing they are doing. PS. The changing elements on armor isn't gonna help with vault space as they think it might.

              • My thoughts exactly. There are already SO MANY mods to choose from and build around. And they just keep adding these passive mods that we can't afford to lose energy or slots for. Now we're losing an ability so they can add it to the massive mod pool choice as well. This is a bad move.

              • A orb generation on multikills mod should be a SECONDARY option, not the only option. "Oh, I have an exotic that doesn't have a catalyst but I am going to be using it hard-core. Let me equip the orb generation mod." "Okay, back to my regular use masterwork weapon, mod off." Kind of like me with my Wish-Ender. Considering that it's cat is still unreleased, that mod will be nice to use while I am not using my masterwork-ed Forward Path.

              • If they allow us 12 energy instead of 10 and an extra slot it'll work. Otherwise it's just gonna amplify problems
