Hey there!
I'm here to remind Bungie of an issue that has been plaguing me (and presumably many others) ever since I started playing the game in around 2019 and also to ask for possible alternate workarounds regarding the issue.
Here's the issue:
Because I have a high friend count on Steam (currently at 746), I get a small stutter roughly every 2 seconds, making the game borderline unplayable. This is presumably caused by some kind of check the game does regularly to see if any of my friends are playing the game. I have since found out that setting Steam to offline mode will remove this issue. However, I would prefer to not have to be in offline mode on Steam in order to enjoy the game.
The issue happens everywhere within the game menus.
I have only noticed this issue happening in Destiny 2.
Has anyone figured out a possible workaround for this issue that doesn't involve going into offline mode on Steam, removing/blocking most of my Steam friends, or playing on a different account?
And more importantly, will Bungie ever fix this issue, which has been around presumably since the game's release on Steam?
Some system information:
OS: Windows 11
GPU: GTX 1060 6Gb
CPU: i5-8500 @ 3Ghz
RAM: 16GB DDR4
SSD: Samsung SSD 980
Monitor Refresh Rate: 165 Hz
Some settings that may or may not be relevant:
I have not found changing these to resolve the issue.
G-SYNC: Enabled
NVIDIA Low Latency Mode: Ultra
Destiny Low Latency Mode: 2
FPS Cap: 160
I tend to play the game with everything except textures set to lowest. My average FPS is around 100.
It shouldn't matter how many friends you have, but if that is the case, it is only affecting people with a ton of friends, so your solution will probably be what you need to do, unless you want to slim down your friends list.
