Bungie must be sick of hearing of this error code, judging by the ammount of posts about this and the lack of actual results.
I have serched this forum and others like reddit for 2 days now and tried every solution i could find.
1. clearing steam DL-cache
2. reinstalled the game (2 times)
3. checking files for integrety (too many times to count)
3. moving / intalling the game on a different drive
4. changing my ipv4 DNS to 8888 8844, aswell as disabling ipv6
5. deleting destiny2.exe and checking for integrety
6. running destiny2.exe as admin (aswell as destiny2_launcher.exe and seperate BL anti cheat launch)
7. disabling firewall and any anti virus software
8. restarting router (in combination with several of the above)
None of these "fixes" have sofar lead to any salvation. My Pc might be a few years old, but i can run any other game just fine.
Here is what happens:
Every time i start D2 it gets me to the starting screen where you press enter to initialize login.
When pressed it says "logging in" and imidiatly after that "checking for updates", after aprox. 15 seconds the Errorcode screen "nightingale" appears and it changes back to the startscreen.
SOLVED:
Hello fellow seeker of help. I am glad to announce that i have fixed my case of the nightingale problem!
I did some more research and as it turns out the google DNS servers arent really the best to connect to from where i am (EU).
I tried using the cloudflare servers (1.1.1.1) and it worked. (i left the backup server adress empty in case that had any impact aswell).
Please try using this or another server than the google one (8.8.8.8). And in case it works: please share it with others suffering from the same problem.
good luck!

You are not alone. It seems that a lot of people have been having this issue over the past couple of weeks, both in PC an Xbox. I truly believe this is something on Bungie’s end. I’d love to hear from a Bungie employee about why so many people are having this issue all of a sudden.
