Pyramids?

Hey all, so ive covered most of the older parts of destiny lore, but don't understand the pyramids. I don't have shadowkeep, and I'm not finding anything on the internet. What are the pyramids? Do they have an enemy inside them? Are they a species? When will we see more of them? Good/bad?

  • I hate how bungie introduces the pyramids and just left it at that. Like we see them everyday but that’s it. They aren’t even a threat just a -blam!- display in the background

    • The pyramids came and vaulted half the game and now just chill out listening to jazz or something for a year and a half. Who knows.

Traveler = ball = good Darkness = pyramid = bad Bad is chasing the good because they are playing a game (I think?). Of course things aren’t as cut and dry as this, but this is the simplest explanation
See Archivial Mind’s post for a more detailed explanation.
• <The Pyramids are sentient ships powered by fragments of the Winnower itself, similar to how Ghosts are fragments of the Gardener. However, the Pyramids have a different purpose. The center of Darkness energy within the Lunar Pyramid is the veiled statue, and given that the Europan Pyramid shows similar architecture, probably there too. What this means is unknown. They are ~8.5 kilometers in length with the exception of the Mothership, which is at least twice the size of the Traveler. They are not equal to the Traveler. The Pyramids are a collective mind, indicated by their constant use of "we" and "us". The Winnower, which has only spoken directly to us once, uses "I" and "me". Calus also acknowledges that the Pyramids are a self collective. Think of the Pyramids as a web fashioned by the Winnower, extensions of it, acting by its will but not directly it. There's too many weird things about them to NOT think there's something else in them. Them reconstituting their shape is not only a theory but doesn't make sense when you factor in every detail.>

Supposedly they are the forces of the darkness/entity. The pyramids themselves seem to be ships. As for what is controlling them or who is on the inside, nobody knows. Not sure exactly which one. But if my understanding is right the traveler has kept them at bay. by force twice now. Once at the beginning of the collapse/ end of the golden age. And once at the end of season of arrivals. But recent lore entries suggest that the pyramids could attack again but are waiting for an unknown reason. Possibly due to savathuun somehow. So the reason for them just sitting there in a ring around our solar system is 100% unclear. We are completely surrounded.

      • The Pyramids are sentient beings, believe it or not, working for "The Darkness" aka a single paracasual being named "The Winnower", sister to the Traveler aka "The Guardener", older than our solar system itself, arch nemesis of The Traveler and man-kind.

        • The story is ludicrous bs. Always was. Bungie makes it up as they go. The Book of Sorrows would have made a great plot for a game, but it was wasted as "lore" cards for a mediocre D1 DLC. Bungie's story writer obviously only use tropes and Hollywood licensed second hand emotions. Back to FFXIV.

        • As far as we know, the pyramids directly serve the Darkness/Winnower. The only pyramid we've ever been in was completely vacant, but that doesn't mean the rest of the Black Fleet is the same. Judging from the teasers for Witch Queen, there are entities of some kind within the pyramids that we will soon face (specifically in the upcoming raid). The pyramids themselves are not a creature though. It's heavily implied, or was outright stated somewhere, that they act similarly to our ghosts, but to what degree is unknown. From the little we do know though, even a single one of them is a massive threat, and the Black Fleet has a massive yet unknown number of them.

Yep Tutankhamun But Bungie haven’t really any idea where to go with the “story” There’s the Winnower & Gardener, The Veil, The Nine etc All muddying the plot
