I have read and understand that Forsaken is scheduled for the vault.
However, I have to ask: Is Forsaken being vaulted to save space, or is it being vaulted to snuff out what Uldren did to Cayde-6? Or both?
New lights won't understand what happened, and fully grasp the struggles that Crow endures.
For sympathizers of Crow this is good, for guardians that won't let Cayde-6 memory go, this is bad.
Either way, for space, or for removing parts of the story so we accept Crow and forget about Uldren, this isn't going to help Bungies' ability to tell a story fluently with little to no gaps. This is going to blur the lines for most.
Disappointing.

As much as I hate to see content still needing to be vaulted, it really doesn’t matter to me since I can’t replay Forsaken’s campaign anyways. Which sucks because I’d like to replay it before they vault it. I’m pretty sure when Beyond Light came out, all the adventures and the campaign missions (besides Shadowkeep’s story missions and the Dreaming City’s weekly rotating missions for some reason) are not able to be replayed after completing them with your characters. I think Bungie just flat out removed all the adventure missions regardless if the destination was vaulted or not. I think the only way they can be replayed as a veteran character is if you join someone who hasn’t played them, or by deleting a character and replaying the campaign that way.

IMO, just do what Halo MCC does, and let’s you select what you want installed. Meaning we can still have access to all of the storyline content we paid for, BUT we can choose to install it or not. It’s kinda funny……give players choices, and the love the devs. Limit or worse remove them, and it pisses players off. It’s still surprising that adults older then me who have taken college and make more money then me can’t seem to understand this very basic concept.

Honestly Bungie should release another game called destiny 2: legacy where it's all single player, completely free, and everything gear wise is unlocked. It features all the vaulted campaigns. It's a separate game so file size isn't an issue, all single player so you don't have to dedicate servers to it (maybe there can be coop where the players host the servers, idk that much about technology lol). The point is, this is where new players can experience the story, old players can reminisce, and the evolving destiny 2 game is unaffected bc it's a separate entity. This limits you to single player activities of course, so the raids are still vaulted, but at least the story is there. I would love to spin through red war again, fighting through the old tower was a blast

New lights dont know who Gary is either
-
It’s being vaulted because no one plays it anymore, it’s a bit sad they witch queen new lights will never play the greatest campaign in the series
-
The story issue can be resolved by Bungie going back and adding (more) lore to the timeline that's now in the game; if they want to get fancy, it can be done through cutscenes, but lore books alone would suffice.
-
They definitely should have vaulted Shadowkeep instead. It's pretty lame compared to Forsaken.
-
I get that it sucks to have content vaulted, but from what has been leaked Witch queen is going to be comparable in size to Forsaken. The file size just gets too big I think they should improve that past triumphs thing so it explains everything from redwar onwards at the very least
-
Honestly, Bungie can’t keep this up for long. They need to invest in more servers. As the years continue, game just going to get bigger and bigger. Vaulted stuff is a temporary solution. A solution that will anger more and more players. If they don’t do anything to address this limitation, it will blow up in their faces.

if a game is to evolve and move on with the times of its story it cant hold on to the past or the game being built wouldnt make much sense as a real time game. But if the game was to let everything remain thats a 400gb game at least and you know what a nightmare that would be to program for everything you added would counter something else nothing would work properly.

Well, we always have Nessus strikes,
-
What I don't understand still is they have an issue with file size but ff14 is how much bigger I mean ffs it's bullshit by this point how can an moo like ff14 keep ALL of its content and variety but destiny can't manage

We already lost 3 expansions, 3 worlds, 5 raids, 2 Gambit modes, menagerie, and forges. now we got one new world, one new raid, one old raid, a smaller cosmodrome, no replacement for gambits loss, no new pvp maps or gambit maps. Witch queen we get one more raid, one new world, no new gambit modes, we lose another expansion and the Tangled Shore as well as the origin of the Scorn. It ain't for space, its to bottleneck content and drip feed the audience. Bungie lacks creativity so now its probably just going to be The Taken King copypaste, but Bungie's fallback is D1 content so I expect even more D1 exotics and content seeing as it had more creativity and thats all they know how to do these days.

Vaulting forsaken doesn't mean that cayde wasn't killed by uldren. It still happened.

It's for space
