Got into an argument with my mom today, she's mad because she thinks I live my life like i'm an island.
The night before Sol's return, I decided to say good bye to her. She has a boyfriend, why would she leave him.
Thus I was resolved, until the first time I saw her after she returned. Things seemed a little off between us, but after a few hours or so, right on back to normal.
What I didn't know was that while she was gone, a different mutual friend of ours told her I was into her.
So things changed and I didn't know it.
My name is one of those names that can be short for something, but it's not. Sol likes calling me the long form version of my name, to poke back at her I would call her Kasey for reasons unknown, but one day I realized that given how I felt, I would escalate and call her Sunshine. I derived that from an old band, you know K.C. and the sunshine band
after a week or so of that she asked me not to call her sunshine any more because her boyfriend called her that, no biggie.
Things where great.
over the next few weeks, we continued to get closer, we started talking outside of work more, sharing music.
but
All good things must come to an end.
One day in the beginning of April as I was going into work, I was pulled aside by two of my bosses. They told me I was going back to my original store.
I was so angry, so angry. I'm still angry to this day.
Why in the absolute flip flap did they move me, then right after I was getting on my feet again, move me back. Last time my tears where of sadness, now I wept the hot messy tears of anger.
I kept a lid on it about the move for a while, at the request of the boss people. Word got out anyway. Telling the kids sucked. Telling Sol sucked worse.
Things where about to change again. During my last three weeks at the store, people started to notice stuff was going on between Sol and I, One kid walked up to me and asked me point blank why it seemed like we where dating.
As my time to leave got closer, she seemed even more comfortable with me, grabbing my arm, touching my shoulder, randomly touching me as I passed by, attempting to tie things to my uniform while I wasn't looking. Asking me about my childhood. Stuff like that. We started talking every day as well. On the Thursday before I left, I caught wind that kids where asking her about us as well, so I decided we must talk.
As the shift winded down, we kinda stood there doing nothing. I took a deep breath, put aside my fears, and said to her "Sol, we need to talk."
"what about?"
"I think you already know."
