Hes not complaining they are bad, hes pointing out how each set of subclass nodes (on the same class) are extremely similar. His main complaint is that because of this one tree in the subclass outclasses others in effectiveness. ie. bottom tree vs top tree sun breaker. Everyone uses bottom tree because they can throw more hammers and do more damage with burns than exploding hammers. Bottom tree hammers offers AOE sunspots, healing, and faster hammer rate while top tree just does a mediocre amount of explosion damage. I do not see him complaining about the strength of a subclass overall anywhere in the post. Hes merely stating that a lot of their usage/intended purpose overlaps too frequently.
