I know this is an old topic (and a lost cause), but here's what I'm experiencing:
I just bought a new laptop, hoping to play D2 in a much better state. My specs are:
- msi gf65 thin 10ue-049it
- i7-10750
- RTX 3060 Max-Q
- 16GB RAM
With high settings I can easily play at 120-144fps, all's fine until the game decides to have some random frame drops to 30-40fps, for a split second and then it returns to normal. Some areas are stuck to 80-90fps, but that depends on the map and I could understand it with some lesser specs, tbh.
Ofc, this happens only with this game, while I can play Doom Eternal, 1920x1080, High settings, Ray tracing on and still get stable 120 and above fps.
How is this game still so badly optimised?

i7 11700k 3070 TUF Gaming Edition 32GB DDR4 3200 RAM M.2 SSD Getting constant microstutters/split second fps drops, and fps is noticeably lower than a few seasons ago. Performance has been awful for me lately when all other games run fine. They messed something up big time.

Try hiding offline on steam when launching the game, it fixed it for me. The reason why hiding offline on steam might fix it is because the steam friendliest updates every 10 to 20 seconds and for some reason destiny 2 is really sensitive to stuff like that and when the friends list starts updating the game will hitch stutter or have frame drops.
