macros?

Does anyone have any information regarding the official rules on macros? I've been doing a lot of research and have found countless conflicting statements. I've read the other forum post in which bungie noted it was ok to use a macro to cut out trivial tasks, but am wondering if there is any information on other subjects. I've read forums from people saying they have friends who have gotten banned from using a macro to turn in resources, but I know of many youtubers and twitch streamers who use them and nothing has happened to them. I've watched a couple of videos on AFK thrall-way farming and the general consensus seems to be that it's ok. But I've also seen people say they've gotten banned from doing so. Similar to the last one big members in the community use this macro to get xp and level up their light. This was used extensively last season in preparation for the Vault of Glass release and it's master counterpart. Any information would be extremely helpful. Thank you!

  • There is no blanket statement by Bungie, but I doubt that macros defying the idle detection have ever been okay. The problem was detecting them in the past, but now maybe the anticheat will take care of that, too?

  • Using a controller with things like auto fire are uncontrollable (sorry had to say it I know it was a bad pun). PC programs which do things like bypassing the games afk system is not OK to use. Anything program wise that interfere or modify the games operating processes can (and have) resulted in bans. Also going afk for long periods to "farm" is considered bad sportsmanship as in the past such activities have ruined the game for others who are trying to play but a afk farmer is getting the rewards for their efforts (and making things harder for players who are trying to do activities with a man down fireteam). Bans have been issued in these cases. In short if you want to play.... play do not go afk during activities unless necessary (real life situations like answering the door or phone).
