EDIT: I seem to have fixed the problem on my end by doing a factory reset on my modem. Might be of some help to people with similar issues. Assuming the problem doesn't return.
I'm on STEAM. Came back to Destiny 2 at the start of the season of the lost. Find myself with Empty towers and destinations, The game finds nobody when matchmaking for any activity. I've been trying to fix it for a week using every troubleshooting guide I can find. My NAT type is open and I've opened all the ports. Reset modem a few times and even done a complete reinstall of the game. I've added destiny 2 and even Battleye to my firewalls and even tried playing with the firewall turned off. Only thing that works is using a VPN which isn't a viable fix.
Then I tried using a VPN and switched it to a London address. Game reset with the usual network errors then loaded up with a tower full of Guardians again. I went and turned off the VPN and the game reset again but when it loaded back up (without the VPN) all the guardians were still there. I was even able to matchmake the 6 players for Astral alignment and complete it without issues. Afterwards I returned to the tower to find it all empty again.
So... has Bungie banned my IP or something? I have no error messages or notifications that I can see. Or is there something I'm overlooking that makes it so that I'm not allowed to play with my own connection?
Help would be appreciated as I'm getting very frustrated. Thanks.

I've been having the same problem since season 14 (and accidental crossplay). I've literally tried everything and only VPN makes it work, nothing else. So this isn't on our end nor is Bungie going to do anything about it :)
