So I think we've come to a point where it would be great to have more than 4 emotes available on the get-go. There are SO many amazing emotes to choose from and I don't wanna be limited to 4! The simplest solution would be to increase it to 8 (press 2 adjacent arrow buttons to select another emote). Another solution would be to just ADD AN EMOTE WHEEL. C'mon bungie, do ya thing :-)
