With Season of the Lost, this officially-supported platform stopped working. The most-informative error message comes by launching destiny2.exe directly:
The program can't start because api-ms-win-core-path-I1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
I don't think this is a BattlEye problem at the root, but BattlEye does make it worse by censoring the error message before passing it on to users:
The program can't start because is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
The missing DLL is not being "blocked" by anything, it simply does not exist anywhere.
P.S.: Yes, Battleye service is installed, yes, the service is started by the D2 launcher and ended when the D2 launcher exits, yes the BattlEye service can be launched manually with no obvious errors and will run indefinitely unless stopped. I have no reason to suspect this is a BattlEye background-service issue.
EDIT: To quote one of the Bungie help accounts here:
UPDATE 2: We've confirmed that a change we made in our builds for safety against buffer overruns is the cause of this issue. We are figuring out how to best fix this issue.
Edited by NeoBushido: 8/25/2021 6:56:16 AMyeah but battleeye doesn't support windows 7 and blocks key DLLs so the game can't launch thats the cause. Its battleeye so as usual it treats inane stuff like max level danger, no wonder it has a 95% false positive average. Welcome back to D2 year 1 in terms of network quality
