Tip to complete Polaris Lance Catalyst fast!
If you are like me, you may be struggling with the progression of The Perfect Fifth in the Polaris Lance catalyst. I was confused by it, thinking that getting kills with the exploding shot would work, but it is the burn damage from the explosion that actually counts.
A good place to farm this is in the moon corrupted Expunge Mission: Styx. During this mission there are Harpies that spawn with a yellow HP bar. These are the ones you want! So what you do is get precision shots against the ads around the Harpies, and once you have the Perfect Fifth ready, fire a precision shot at the Harpies. The explosion leaves them with very little HP and the burn damage kills them. There are like 8 or 10 Harpies in total.
I farmed this Expunge mission like 7 or 8 times last night and I was finally able to complete the catalyst, which honestly makes Polaris Lance even more awesome. I recommend it especially since scout rifles are getting a buff next season.

5 RepliesI love how just skimming through the replies, I quickly spotted at least two people who ABSOLUTELY did NOT read the OP. He said that he figured out it was the burn and not the explosion, you morons. Thank you for this tip. I may use it if I ever bring myself to complete that stupid catalyst. I detest the "burn not explosion" counts. It's so idiotic and counter-intuitive. Which is D2 in a nutshell. It should have been, "Get kills with Perfect 5th shot. Enemies killed by the burn-effect and not the explosion count for more."

Put on antibarrier and use the Hydra and boss in perdition. You can do it in 3 runs.

I did it in the hub section of leviathan when it was there, can imagine shattered throne thrall cp is a good replacement?

This is the by far the best way I found. This week’s ascendant challenge has knights they won’t die, hide in a tree, tag the knight til u get the proc and then shoot a group of thralls. Took me 15 mins or less to finish. Shout out to the guy who posted this method on Reddit.

Places with a lot of Cabal, such as Battlegrounds, are also a good place to farm kills. Should take about two of them iirc, as each Legionary takes about three hits to the head and bodyhotting the second one with the firth shot should let the burn finish him (if not then it takes three). Just wish Bungie changed the catalyst requirement to count the explosion too; same with Graviton Lance's Cosmology seekers, if those weren't changed already.

The central room in the leviathan raid used to be great for this. That’s where I’d did mine. Shooting the legionaries 5 times to proc perfect 5th would leave them with just enough health to burn out, they would just continuously respawn.

It’s really easy. And simple. Go to shattered throne. Go to room after orger. Thrall everywere. Job done.

Battle grounds or dreaming city with the taken are good areas to get a 5th. The key is to get four shots off on a yellow bar surrounded close prox by the reds. Or just keep going for head shots in a crowded area which the battlefields have; the nessus one with the tank like that strike is a good one. Polaris is a Great weapon with the catalyst and the new season splicer mod for fusion and firefly (energy accelerant is it?). Constant head popping and blowing everyone up. Took about three hours in the right places where enemies group together. Cabal are slow and you can get the precision by hitting them on the back in that orange/yellow area between shoulders which makes it easier. Worth doing.

Thralls prophecy dungeon. Right before the last boss, you go up a circular stair that keep coming infinite thralls at you. You can catalyst almost everything there*

I did it in a cabal lost sector on Mars. The move was prime shot with centurion shield, then shot them in the toe.

I finished pretty quickly by doing legendary lost sectors. Any place is fine as long as the difficulty is above general game play. You don't want enemies to die in one head shot

2 RepliesThe "kills with 5th perfect" are with the burning efect, not the explosion. Warlock Dawn Chorus (helmet) should help a lot
