Technically they could bring it back unchanged but absolutely murder it’s aim assist and handling and maybe add some sort of overheat mechanism to it

Honestly, all that needs to be done is in PvP, let the max mag size be 2 shots and have the ammo regeneration take 15 seconds per bullet (or higher if that's still too OP), but the gun has to be out the [i]entire[/i] time in order to generate a bullet (and reset the clock if you switch guns). Makes it a nice risk / reward exotic. --- Or! You could make it really wacky and make the timer 5 seconds to regenerate, but the gun could only hold a single bullet and that bullet is lost as soon as it's stowed. That would mean you HAVE commit to a snipe for 5 seconds and then get the headshot or else you're SOL.

🤔 Interesting idea My only critique is that I think the ammo regeneration should start with any [u]Solar Final Blow[/u]. Given that Ice Breaker is a Solar weapon it would make more sense for Solar Final Blows to start its ammo regen. This would also give Osmosis more of a use… yeah. Remember Osmosis? 😂

I wouldn't bring back the ammo Regen but would give it some mechanics based around shattering stasis crystals. Maybe even the ability to take over enemy crystals.

I don’t like the idea of always spawning with 0 ammo, but it doesn’t really matter, since Bungie will never implement a community suggestion (check their track record), not to mention they weren’t the biggest fans of revoker (even though they themselves made it), so icebreaker, no land beyond, as well as those 2 shotguns (the 1 that regens ammo & the 1 that uses primary ammo) are weapons they are too scared of to come back, because of the precious boring ‘balance,’ which is ironically non-existent between the classes.

Undo all the nerfs it received in D1 Put it in the Heavy Slot You want infinite ammo, then you sacrifice an actual Heavy Weapon. Job done

This is a solid way of doing it. In my opinion I hope the regeneration exotics never return to the game [b]however[/b] if Icebreaker did, this would be a great way of adding it in.

i feel bad because you put in a lot of work for something that will probably never come back. if it needs such an extensive rework then it should just be a completely new/different weapon.

Hm. This is interesting. It basically gives you the means to acquire special ammo without having to look for a brick, provided your final blow is with a kinetic weapon. This might just work for PvP.

Honestly that idea for primary kills=special ammo is awesome as a whole. I feel like it could do a ton to fix the special economy in PvP if this was how all weapons worked.

Just look at revoker, it wasn’t the best sniper in the game for nothing. It has really good perks as a sniper but what made it busted was the ammo regen. It wont matter if its landing your shots or having to wait 30 seconds for one bullet, it breaks the game either way. Why do you think bungie nerfed whisper? Bungie thought it was going to work just fine on D2 and eventually nerfed it back to exactly how it ended up in D1.
