We're all pretty familiar with the theme that plays in the Nexus during Override, right? Should be at 0:30 in the link there. So I listened a little closer the other day and alongside the fact that it's a great theme to be smashing Vex to, I happened to notice some similarities to Savathûn's song. I'll preface by saying this could be a total coincidence or a reach, but the music team at Bungie is always pretty strategic so nothing's quite impossible.
All right, so starting 0:30 is the Nexus theme that then progresses up the scale and back down ending at 0:39. There are a few little notes in between that make it sound Vex-y and appropriately so, but if you take those out and focus on the ones that are more drawn out you have 4 notes that go up and back down, which is the same pattern as the witch queen's infectious tune. It's just in a different key and hidden in the digital sound that is typically associated with the Vex. (For any musicians out there it should sound like concert E, G, A, F, which parallels to D, F, G, E, aka Savvy's song. It would sound closer if it ended on F# but if my theory is in any way true then it would make sense for them to change it up a little.)
It's entirely possible this is just a coincidence and a case of structural similarity in the composers' choices. But if this was in any way done deliberately then it would brilliantly fit with what was revealed this week,
that the Endless Night is actually by Savathûn's design. Just like the witch queen, her song was hidden in plain sight under the guise of another threat, or in this case, another theme.
I've probably been doing too much ether but if anyone has thoughts I'd be open to discussing!
