Hello. Destiny has some of the coolest concepts for gear and equipment. The design choices with legendary sets of armor and the design around exotics are awesome. While I think a lot of the looks that the creative team comes up with are cool, unique, and iconic, I have a request.
To preface the suggestion, I want to give a little background on my thought process. I main a hunter, and I mention this because I think I can be more specific focusing on one class. I do feel like the suggestion holds true for all 3 classes, at least in a similar way. Hunter gear, generally speaking, falls in to two aesthetic categories; futuristic science fiction and fantasy science fiction. Both are very cool visual fantasies for a character. Exotics seem to be designed to stand out on their own. This often results in exotics either matching with the future or fantasy aesthetic but not both. Ornaments for exotics seem to offer unique twists on the existing designs but don't often change what armor they match well with.
I'd like to see more exotics designed visually with legendary gear in mind. I really enjoy how exotics stand out with their own personality but I also enjoy the fashion game and having my character look awesome. Often the gear just doesn't look good together. Beyond the initial design choice I'd also like to see exotic ornaments designed for each exotic armor piece for each aesthetic category so that mix-and-match is easier.
For example Wormhusk Crown I would categorize as fantasy in initial designs and its ornament The Gate Lord crosses the aesthetic to future. Its not my favorite visual exotic but I think it succeeds in what I'm describing. St0mp-ee5 however currently have their base visual and three ornaments all of which fall under the future aesthetic. Now an Ahamkara themed ornament, maybe in the vein of Bones of Eao could swap the St0mp-ee5 aesthetic matching to fantasy (please make them symmetrical if you design one, then take my money).
This would really help us hunters step up our fashion game. I also think it would help to bridge some legendary sets that wouldn't otherwise be kit-bashed together. (Sneaking in that I'd also like to see more symmetrical designs especially with pants!)
Thanks for reading.
