It’s bad enough the changes they made with the oracles but the toxicity and elitism of people in these lfg groups is unbelievable. My clan was short 2 guys so we ended up using lfg and found some people to fill the spots. These 2 guys said they had an Atheon checkpoint and ask if we could start there and they’d help us with the beginning parts after so we agreed.
Now this was our very first time in the raid learning everything and these guys had already played and made it to Atheon. So we start and their we a few mistakes but after a while we were getting the hang of stuff. All of a sudden these guys say um I don’t think we will get this done the damage isn’t enough. Now these guys were putting out similar to less damage than everyone else and were making mistakes as well. They just continued to be negative and no longer wanted to help anymore. It’s just ridiculous how people just don’t have the patience anymore to figure out where the mistakes lie, correct it and keep pushing. They rather be negative, create tension and anxiety. People want to beat the raid just as badly as these elitist pricks. Thus why raid should’ve stayed the same as it was in D1 and challenge mode should’ve had the changes.

I agree and the KWTD posts on day one are a joke as well. Its day one of the raid like WHY. So I try and find people who are like minded to complete it with. I look for people who dont get tilted right away at a mistake. Also, dont put the blame on a single person or person's who mess up. Its a game not the end of the world. Just ask if everyone understands the objective and push forward.
-
You should have just told them no and if they wanted to leave they can. Theres so many people out there that want to do the raid is not hard to find people. I just completed it last night finally and it took two different groups but it was fun while doing it.

LoL I’ve seen first hand how Toxic readers can be. Seen ppl kicked for one mistake. Seen ppl blasted and kicked for nothing more than a difference of opinions. I actually left those teams too. Yes there’s a few reasons why the raid community is so small. One of them is in fact the toxicity and the entitlement of some players. They forget it’s just a game. But making a post and asking for clears and experience isn’t being toxic. Some ppl have limited time to play. It’s their post. They have every right to set the parameters if you agree to join them. But that definitely doesn’t give them permission to be asshats either. Some teams don’t jive well. Some players aren’t as flexible as others. LFG is essentially a crapshoot with Raiding. And that’s the reason I would NEVER participate in a match made raid. You’d have a better chance of winning the lottery than getting a completion. But I’m not against there being an Optional MM setting either. If ppl want to take that time risk who am I to stop them. Doesn’t effect me in the slightest.

I raided in D1 a moderate amount (something like 55-60 raids in the 9 months I played, mostly hard mode). I LFGed every single one of those raids and very rarely encountered toxicity. You really just had to avoid the guys mandating "Gjally or boot." I'm lucky to have a raiding team now that I've returned to D2, but my experience with LFG before finding that team was really negative. There are still good people and good teams out there, but it's less frequent that you'll encounter them.

Attention All New Players
Welcome to Destiny
That's LFG in a nutshell. There's always a prick or a dozen that don't understand that there's a learning period when a raid comes out. You can tell people to watch guides all day but most won't get the raids down till they actually do them. Nor do they understand that not everything needs to done in one phase. As time goes on light level increases raids get easier.
-
My favorite are the people who ask for 20+ clears in D1 vog even though it is a very different raid than D2 vog.
-
Yesterday I had a guy tell me yesterday he "didn't agree" with me that if you get teleported during Atheon it's the same room just a different time, he thought it was an entirely different place ... lol anyway we didn't finish the raid.
-
I lucked out with my raid groups thus far. Very chill I will give this advice tho, sometime you just need to step up and be the person to re-focus the group. Our group beat Templar on Contest Mode, but it wasn’t until I told everyone to take a deep breath and be accurate with call outs and that no one was to blame. Relic holder was getting a lot of flak so I defended them and we completed it shortly after. Also, you can’t be add clear the whole raid...people need to step up and learn the mechanics

I love complaining about this garbage game and making the fanboys cry as much as the next guy, but unfortunately this isn’t anything new to raids that are either 1. Require a higher level of thinking skill 2. Broken beyond light (destiny 2 vault of glass) These 2 factors make people toxic little beasts, they can’t complete the encounter in an hour and cry that people who don’t know how to do it are wasting their time. I’m on the bandwagon of not having my time wasted, but it seems in this case destiny 2 has stepped up to the plate and deliver both 1 and 2 so it seems that even the people who would carry the ones who lack in skill (or light in this games case) don’t have the patience to sit there and never make any progress with the game just dumping on you leaving no room for error. Just remember that this happens in every game with raids, you just need to find the right people so this doesn’t happen, but with lfg it’s like opening Pandora’s box, or a box of chocolates, you never know what your going to get

Edited by Necrogen: 5/24/2021 6:29:34 PMWell at least you made your own group. But you're not saying anything holy unique here. You're going to find jerks on the internet. This is basically your whole topic summed up: We raided with two extras from lfg and they were jerks. I don't like it when people are jerks. 👏👏👏 Move on man and just keep rolling until you find people that aren't jerks. On a more general note the forum posts about vog use buzzwords like anxiety and toxicity etc etc. I'm beginning to wonder if the lot of you are reading each other's posts and just writing similar stories and hoping something gets through. To all of you Just cut the people out that are being jerks and find other people doing the raid. Expect 4 to 5 hours of commitment for teams that are subpar. Get a dedicated team and enjoy the time you have with them.

Edited by NYDIBS: 5/24/2021 6:11:38 PMPeople don’t like to be called out. They always think they’re the best. “I have xx clears”, I’m so good, it must be someone else I always like to ask what happened, what went wrong. So that we can correct it if needed. But sometimes you run into players that are afraid that if they make a mistake they’ll get booted. So it just turns into people getting all defensive
-
I won’t ever go as far as insulting people by calling them names every time someone screws up but I do understand why the elitism has gotten so bad and the simple answer is that a good majority of this playerbase is not very good at Destiny...hate to break it to ya buddy. I’ve done most day 1 raids in D1 and D2 and tried to help some LFG teams complete their raids as well...what I’ve come to realize is that a lot of LFG teams screw up but don’t know why they screwed up or refuse to admit when they did something wrong. This leads to an endless loop of people making the same mistakes without correcting them. Or communication is just horrid. Big reason why matchmaking in raids has never been a thing. Bungie knows what this playerbase is capable of, so blame the elitism on the playerbase just not being all that experienced or coordinated for raids.
-
I've been in a few raid teams where we've all agreed it ain't working and parted ways.. Don't take it all so personal and just find another team.
-
Nothing about what you typed makes any sense at all. If they were willing to help you with the first parts of the raid, which means they said they will run the ENTIRE raid with you, then WHY did you agree to run the end first with them to give them what THEY needed? I would immediately think they were gonna bolt after getting what they want. Gen Z dont give a dam% about anything but themselves. In my mind only a child or someone very nieve would agree to this arrangement.
-
One of my favorite parts of that is when you out dps everyone combined, yet people blame you for the wipe.
-
I'm sorry about that, hope you find a group of people that are willing to learn and are somewhat decent human beings so mistakes can and likely would be made but everyone stays cool and focused on improving until you guys clear VoG.
-
Edited by J: 5/24/2021 5:21:55 PMIf anyone is on Steam and want to do VoG I am available Friday after 10:30 pm EST and Weekends. I cleared it yesterday with a Sherpa group. I plan on raiding each weekend on at least my Titan and Warlock. Disclaimer: I don't have everything down yet as I am still learning the mechanics and callouts, but I am willing to play with people who want to learn the raid and not rush through.
-
Its too subjective to label all of lfg toxic. I literally just beat it today about an hour ago, with a chill group i met here on lfg. Totaly cool guys, who were happy to explain stuff to anyone who didnt know. I knew from d1, but a couple didnt. We communicated and got it done. Best thing to do is just feel it out, if you get a bad vibe from a couple of toxic ppl, just leave and try a new group. Or if theyre chill, like my group, just stick around, dig deep and the clear will come. Its not about skill, its about chill.

This is a game... when I see people struggling to work together in real jobs (which they get paid for and conversely real world income depends on them working together) I just do a face palm and often try to help them... Gaming world is full of more lost cause IMHO so don't take it too seriously.

Edited by Althanash: 5/24/2021 4:54:35 PMSounds like you had a stroke of bad luck in people roulette. It looks like they were more concerned with their own self interests than helping you. Mentioning an Atheon CP to boot? Could be those people that farm end boss until they get the exotic. Whatever the case. Take a moment breathe and keep in mind there are good people out there for raiding who will have the time / patience / empathy to help you through it. LFG can be awful. But don't let bad apples poison your experience. Edit: If you do need a 6th for VoG in general and see my post looking. DM I'm on PC and don't mind putting in hours when I have the time to spare.
-
i joined a 5 man team yesterday and they were all chill and really nice, didn't even mind when i had to leave during gorgons
-
Id love to find a group to teach me on pc or psn. But sadly i wont ask in lfg for fear of this kind of crap.
-
This is why making raids that require flawless execution and precise communication is bad for LFG randoms
-
Next new Raid that comes out, NEW Raid, not old recycled one, the next new raid, I'll spam LFG channel with KWTD requirements, on the FIRST DAY!!! Emblem or kicked!!! 😂😂😂 Logic!
-
Yes, exactly ........... Try and use the Fireteam finder and EVERY endgame activity, raid OR dungeon has KWTD! Even if it doesn't say know what to do......... You will be booted out of the game if you make too many mistakes? What happened to Guided Games? I was excited for that, you ended up sitting there for nearly an hour looking for a clan to take you under there wing and help you through a raid ............ BUT I am guessing, there KWTD attitude spoilt the whole idea of guided games. How are you supposed to know what to do in any end game activity IF nobody offers help or advise in these game modes?
