To be specific, the anniversary edition’s campaign on mine humble pc.
Yep, I finished it.
I finished it.
Y’know, at first, I thought this game was gonna be something else.
I really did, but…
*frantically shakes head*
Actually, it was quite fun for a while. First time playing and it was fun—that is, till it started feeling repetitive—copies of the map being used over and over again to create a sort of labyrinth; honestly, I spent more time going in circles than shooting, but that just might be me being stupid.
But, yeah, picking up the Covenant’s own weapons to use against them was particularly enjoyable.
Oh, and The Flood! Yes, ohohohohohoho, the Flood.
I knew what they were and I knew they were in Halo (I researched the whole story before I got it), but what I didn’t know is how much they would be in it—specifically this game.
Honestly, I didn’t think they’d be in this one.
But hey, I was cool with the Flood; I didn’t mind tearing through them with a blazing barrel as if they were made of paper.
Yeah, I have no problem with the Flood.
...until The Library happened.
No, I won’t talk about it.
Stop asking or I’ll cry... and scream… and die...
then hurt you.
Also, I didn’t like seeing human soldiers infected, because shooting what used to be my own men was kinda disturbing… like, there’s no way you can get me to shoot my own brothers in—Oh hey, that guy’s holding a shotgun!
*shrug*
Brother or Flood, a shotgun is a shotgun.

ANYWAY, I caught a glimpse of Halo 2 and it looks waayyyyy more fun, both the story and gameplay aspects. But, I don’t know, I may be getting ahead of myself.
But yeah, as a guy playing it with new eyes, I’d rate Halo: CE 4.5/10 stars: Fun at first until everything after that feels like a grind that just keeps dragging on—hey, I need more experience than killing hordes of... things in a room I’ve already been in ten thousand times.
Hopefully, Halo 2 will get double the rating, yeh?
-postscript-
I can click a button and see the classic halo graphics and that’s some pretty neat design for it’s time, but I liked playing with the newer shtuff on.
-post-postscript-
That part in the beginning where we’re rescuing Captain Keyes and that one marine is just shooting the dead alien, saying: “Haha, get up so I can kill yeh again!”
Nice foreshadowing.

You're entitled to your opinion. What doesn't translate for you is that you are experiencing a game the diehards here have played exhaustively 20 years... You have undoubtedly played 20 years worth of newer and newer games with metric boat loads of functions, features, and expansions that this game gave their starting point of what to shoot for. Destiny wouldn't be if it wasn't for this game. What you don't know are all the things that you may have not unlocked of missed along the way. -Did you do the skull hunts? -Did you pick up the sniper on Halo and let him ride shotgun? -Did you have any skulls active? (IWHBYD is a MUST!) -Did you do any extensive achievement hunting? -Did you ever shoot off the arms of the Flood Combat Forms and create a massive Conga line of them just following you around?
However, I did learn an important lesson about never listening to Cortana when she tells me to stop. Because she is trying to kill me.
smh No, she's not.... The Maw is an assault on your senses the first time because YES; The Warthogs in Halo CE handle like they're driving on greased ball bearings and You're on a timer. No time to explore, just DRIVE!!!! Once you know how to handle the Hog and the route, it's really not all that taxing. It's not the Library. If you do go on to Halo 2, things improve. The weapons, shields / health, DIALOGUE (you have to listen to the dialogue (IWHBYD), listen and invest in the story and Chief and Cortana's relationship. You'll see that she really wasn't trying to kill you on the bridge on the Maw), overall game play in general. You'll need to adapt, Improvise, and overcome when you get to some of the Covenant enemies. But do yourself a favor. Don't look at these as current / modern games. Though Halo 2 Anniv. is BEAUTIFUL in the cut scenes, it's still an old game with a face lift.
Fun at first until everything after that feels like a grind that just keeps dragging on—hey, I need more experience than killing hordes of... things in a room I’ve already been in ten thousand times.
First play through is disorienting. But there are indicators to show you where you should be going in most of those situations.
