I understand why next-Gen and past-Gen consoles are mostly separated during matchmaking (specifically with crucible). However, due to console scarcity, this negatively affects next-gen console users with slow matchmaking and very small player populations.
With the news coming out showing that the Ps5 shortage is likely to continue into 2022, Bungie should address this instead of leaving their next Gen customers stuck with longer wait times and badly balanced or repetitive matches.
I don't know what the best solution is, but leaving it as it is would definitely *not* be the best solution.

Where has the consoles been separated where does it say this. I think it’s a load of shit people just say
-
So that's the reason? Holy f*ck! I was waiting 10+ minutes for a match to start. It was still at 1/12 and searching when I quit... XD Oh well. The fun is gone anyway.

Yea. Me personally I had basically a team helping me order one and ended up getting one. But having to wait sooo long to do pvp is frustrating. Like ps5s are rare and the ps5/ps4 non integrating matchmaking is a recipe for super long wait times. Of course that will change once they are more access able but I’d like to play with ps4 people outside of an lfg.

Specially in trials, playing with 3 ps5’s takes ages to find matches and they’re all extremely laggy because everyone is from another side of the world. This + the trash tick rate and server makes it very not enjoyable to play.

the next gen player base is pretty small. just give it some time.

I've gotten 2 ps5's (not bragging btw), for me and my wife U just got to know how to go about it. If u have a credit card with a concierge service, they're actually pretty good at getting one for u while u simply enjoy ur day. U'll get a notification or call that they secured one and reserved it under ur name and address associated with ur card. They are quite quick at securing ur needs in just about any request asked by u 24/7. I've gotten all my next gen consoles that way, one on launch and the other when my wife wanted one for her own a little later Another way I've seen ppl get one is by Twitter, set ur notifications to certain accounts that tweet live restocks. Many Twitter users apparently share their excitement when they secure them....but u will see very toxic people on there. Twitter has so many low self-esteem immature individuals looking to boost their moral sense of superiority as if was a teenage ego

I have a PS5 and experience the same matchmaking issues you are having. Every next gen player does, whether they realize it or not. It is most evident in Trials and Survival. My team and I played the same team in Survival three times in a row just a few days ago. We were fine with it because we easily beat them all three times, but I do feel bad for that other team. I've been on the other side of that quite a few times too. It sucks. The only thing I can say is I expect the issue to resolve itself somewhat once crossplay is enabled. If there's still a new gen/old gen separation, it will still at least mean that PS5 and Xbox Series X/S players will see each other added to their matchmaking pools, making this a less common scenario. I don't like that they split it to begin with, but there is at least a chance that it improves at that point.

It feels like D1 matchmaking, long wait times and playing the same group of people They need to put PS5/PS4 in the same matchmaking pool, because there isn't any real advantages in PvP for next gen

Edited by I6v6I: 5/11/2021 2:36:47 AMTeam up with a PS4 player, you'll get put in the PS4 matchmaking queue and destroy everyone. It's how Trials players doing carries and recovs exploit matchmaking for easy games (the carry or recov plays on ps4 and the more skilled players are on PS5). Just shows how stupid Bungie's matchmaking system is. Also cross play is coming in a few months so that should fix the matchmaking times.

I have the ps5 since the first day & I have not noticed any difference on the matchmaking with a ps4, maybe the problem that you say is only affecting to yourself, you should revise your net conection.
