How fair is Guardian Games really?
I'm not salty or anything, just genuinely curious. How large is the population difference between hunters, Warlcoks, and titans exactly? Because if it is as large as you guys made it seem, exactly how many boost will titans or Warlcoks need to even be on par with hunter numbers?
And how do these boost work exactly? Are they accumulative throughout the entire event? Or are they reset each ceremony? The titans have been last but they at least should have 4 or 5 boost now? Yet their position is unchanged and (while closer) still dont look like they'll be passing warlocks anytime soon. Now I would have to have an exact number, but just looking at this mathematically if the hunters have such a massive population advantage then warlocks and titans only chance is to get a certain number of boost before they can even really compete. So if they use this same model next time hunters will be consistently in the lead until titans or Warlcoks LOSE enough, that's.......not really much of a competition is it? I think this system needs some more tweaking but I might be wrong.

Er, you guys know "Medals" are just bounties right? Like literally nothing new to do, no new interactions or mechanics, just go grind the tired over used playlists to complete bounties. Guardian Games? Nah. Guardiman Grinds.

The exact class split is 37% Hunter / 31% for Warlock and Titan each. From what I've seen in the games I was playing this weekend, the NF is full of hunters grinding for Pali and the medals are just a side affect of that

The populations arnt as lopsided as people think. Not only that the bottom two get a boost.. mind you it's not as big as it was in last years debacle.. but as much as people want to see the hunters try to compete with both hands tied behind there backs with there concrete shoes on again.... it gets boring having the odds so heavily stacked against you. There are like 10-15% more hunters then titans or warlocks.

1 ReplyWish there was a fair test of class performance. For instance, I play all 3 classes about equally &, it seems to me, at least in gambit, I do better with my Titan? Hard to measure, though. The handicap system they set up, though, doesn’t seem quite a fair way. Some sort of average might have been a bit more fair?

15 RepliesNever was. Hunters are over half the player population so the only options are to severely nerf hunters so much that it's impossible for them to win, or just let hunters stomp the event for free.

Ive done all my guardian games stuff on my hunter just because it's the class I have battlegrounds unlocked on and I wanted to do a concurrent activity while I grinded out seasonal challenges. If I could do it on warlock I would but I cant be bothered to unlock battlegrounds again so the 4 platinum medals I have earned all went to hunters. It is no indicator of fairness, of class balance, of anything whatsoever, and the class that wins doesn't even get anything. It is not worth any complaints, there are infinitely bigger problems than who wins the guardian games.

2 RepliesThe Games are more fairer this year around but Bungie should of also implemented a nerf to 1st Place’s medals worth equal to the buff 3rd place gets. It’s taking too long for either Titans and Warlocks to catch up to Hunters because 2nd and 3rd keep switching back and forward daily, so the buff for 3rd is not adding up quick enough. Hunters will have a full week’s worth of first place wins before another class can actually get near them, so Hunters will already have a massive lead by the time the daily 1st place actually becomes a competition between the classes.

1 ReplyThis year they've made no adjustment. It is just "Festival of the Hunters" as far as I'm concerned. As a warlock main, I see 0 value in this stupid event. They should never bring it back if they can't figure out a way to make it fair. I don't think they can make it fair. It was just a lazy way to fill the space on a short season. Until Guardian Games, this WAS the best season. It's now trash.

2 RepliesLosing class should’ve gotten a more significant boost until they get first once, then it should’ve boosted as normal. That would’ve even the playing field a lot more. Maybe give second place a slight boost too so it’s not back and forth everyday. Bungie is pretty oblivious to how many hunter there really is too. Event could’ve been a lot better for everyone, but Bungie is still learning from their failures. This event is just as much of a dud as it was last year imo.

1 ReplyGuardian Games last year didn’t seem fair either. Titans had won all but the first day because Bungie either nerfed further progress Hunters made after the first day, or Hunters tried to exploit the event by deleting other characters to make extra Hunters to get the Gold medal for completing the introductory Guardian Games quest or something that backfired. I really can’t remember, but it wouldn’t surprise me if it was the second reason why Titans had won. Regardless, this event just brings out the salt in everyone when the event is supposedly to bring all of us together. But it’s truly just to sell sports related cosmetics in Evervrse.
