We’ve seen this happen before, from the D1 exotic sidearm “Dregs Promise”, which was the very first 3-round burst sidearm. Now; there’s an abundance of 3 & 2 round burst sidearms.
I’d Love to see this sorta evolution with Trace Rifles. Here’s a concept I’ve put together, & for visionaries sake; let’s say it’s a [u][b]VEIST[/b][/u] Weapon by design. So here Goes:

I don’t really believe they should make trace rifles, they are inherently too unique, especially being the only weapon type that has perfect accuracy. Also 10 impact for trace rifles would be ridiculously overpowered.
