Everything Wrong with the New Prismatic Recaster
I hope we can all agree that Umbral focusing has taken a giant step backwards from Arrivals. Here's everything that absolutely should be fixed before the Recaster is thrown into the DCV again.
1) [b]Hammer Charges should be obtained from more activities, not just Battlegrounds.[/b] Not everyone is a fan of 20-30 enemies all teleporting while Cabal drop pods kill you for no reason. What other activities are there in the game that don't drop Cabal gold that can be used to gain Hammer Charges?
2) [b]Hammer Charges should be obtained in higher quantities.[/b] To require 3-5 for a single focused engram puts newer players at 3-5 Battlegrounds completions while players with a single upgrade have to do 1-3. I'd like to see the base Hammer Charge quantity obtained be 2 or 3, then the Rune upgrade making it 4 or 5, or even another Rune upgrade to make a third tier at 7 or 8 for even more gold.
3) Worthy, Arrivals, and Hunt gear is all bundled into a single engram. This gives players next to no control over anything aside from the current season's armor and weapons.
4) [b]You can only focus a certain amount of Tier 3 engrams per week.[/b] Not the "you only have this many free focuses" but "you can only focus this row like three or four times PER WEEK." This makes absolutely no sense. This isn't raid loot! This is like capping the amount of Shards or Prisms you can get from Nightfalls per week-- completely unnecessary. What's even worse is that [b]you can't upgrade how many Tier 3 Umbrals you can focus per week[/b]. There's no Rune for it.
5) (Personal preference) [b]The Hammer of Proving should display Hammer Charges as a simple number[/b], not as boxes. I'm not saying I can't count, but if I'm playing from a distance from my monitor, I don't want to have to lean forward to see if I have 7 or 8 charges.
None of these should be controversial.

6) Focusing an umbrel engram pre destined above 1300 will reduce that engrams power back to 1300. You could have a 1310 umbral, focus it, and it comes out as 1300.

1 ReplyYou forgot...I have a 1310 umbral engram but if I go to focus it to get a chance at a specific gear it will come out as a 1300 focused engram. I just go to the recaster when my inventory is full and dump them all in without focusing and dismantle for shards. They could literally remove this from the game and my inventory would be less cluttered.

2 RepliesI'll add one, the recaster level never increases. I de-coded 6 umbrals today, the most I have ever gotten, and my level did not rise at all. I have not been able to raise the level even once yet.

Atleast it takes 2 seconds to delete umbral engrams...which I do with them now a days.

The biggest issue with Umbral engrams is that they are pretty much a complicated way to get legendary shards. The armour, even using charges to increase stats, drop with terrible numbers. The weapons have awful rolls.

I don’t focus engrams anymore I just turn them in. They are like normal legendary engrams that you have to go to the helm to decrypt.

Right now you get the most out of your time by either turning in umbrals directly or paying 5 shards for a hopefully season weapon drop for your god rolls. We can get umbrals anywhere and with all the new playlist loot, there is no point in grinding for hammer charges.

What's even better is that ranking up the recaster is pointless. Just a plain ole umbral engram.

Sorry but you're not getting God roll armor from it no matter what, and you probably have the weapon rolls you want. Whenever I get them now I just focus them for world engrams and try for another Eternal Blazon or Dire.

You can add the tier 3 stat rolls should not roll in the 50's period. Anyone but new players shard 50 stat rolls. I have spent over 30 hammer charges looking for int gear and sharded all of them. Why would a veteran bother with this?

The top thing that I want to see is the ability to focus for specific weapons in the world loot pool. Instead of just the worldly weapons engram with a 1/?? chance of getting the weapon that I want, being able to focus into an engram with maybe like 2-4 of the world pool weapons so I have a better chance of getting the one that I want would feel way better. Also unrelated but I'd like to be able to right click on the engram and be able to see the pool like we could back in arrivals. It feels like I'm just taking a shot in the dark when I focus into the world pool.

I totally understand why it was scaled back from what we got in Season 11, as that was extremely generous. However, the current system is just too stingy. I honestly have hardly even used it, largely because it's taking so long to really even be worth using. I want to target specific rolls on specific weapons that I don't have yet, and by the time that is even possible, I will probably have all of the rolls that I want from random drops. By then, what's the point?

the prismatic recaster is so useless, the last one was much better. The fact that we dont get the drops at our powerlevel is stupid. Im 1310, so i want all my gear also at 1310. Focussing is useless, so i dont have to upgrade the hammer anymore. What else to do? Farming NF for double loot this weekend is ok, but otherwisae? Extremely boring at the moment...

Since even the "high stat" armor rolls are all pretty much worthless there should at least be an option to get a powerful/pinnacle per week so you can focus something you need thanks to the ridiculously RiggedNG for the idiotic power grind we get every season. Considering I've already gotten the majority of the weapon rolls I'm looking for we're back to umbrals just being a nuisance.
