This starts off rocky but it gets deep towards the end. Bear with me.
Game development doesn’t revolve around what is and what isn’t known to be broken or bugged.
It revolves around deadlines and money.
Cut the BS, Bungie.
You’re your own studio now, publish good content. I’m no expert, but I know it takes significantly less time to change a range value, a damage value, a duration than it does to create new places and activities.
A faulty foundation can be built upon. Beautiful one, two, three, and even four-floor buildings, but push it to five, six seven seasons... er I mean floors, and the foundation begins to crumble and everything falls. The seasonal model is meh.
I grow weary of the grind. Many others do as well.
Stasis was a mistake. Period. I reckon a supermajority would like to see it removed from PvP entirely. It marketed well, it made you money, but darkness is frustrating to die to and promotes super 1-dimensional ability spam. Canonically it’s evil and Lord Shaxx could he like nah and ban it.
The artificial meta creation is a poor practice. Balance the game, don’t force upon us 600 rpm auto rifles, and 120 rpm handcannons. I like using all 500 of my vault spaces. Kind of defeats the purpose when I only can use 10 competitively.
In survival and trials, playing with mid range weapons actively hinders one’s team. CQC and long range are the only meaningful engagement spaces. Why is that?
I haven’t wanted to raid in years. The pinnacle system disincentivizes the playing of high level PvE content because loot is available through other means. In fact, loot is far too available in general and I feel crushed by too many legendaries. Perk pools are being artificially widened to account for this. Keep the loot rare and desirable. It’s what made D1 addicting.
None of the content is bad, but man I just feel like I’m in a slump whenever I get on. PvE used to be semi-complicated and mysterious but now I feel like I’m drowning in loot and triumphs and seals and -blam!- all else because Bungie... you’re over doing it! If it ain’t broke don’t fix it! D1 was so good, all you had to do was import the same engine with some tweaks. Forsaken got us back with special weapons, and mantling is wonderful, but I kind of want to go back.
Fix crucible, guns and abilities. Fix the loot system. Cool it with the collectibles. Breath some life into whatever D1 is buried deep down in there.
I am not one of those “I’m sunsetting Destiny 2” clowns, because they’re attention -blam!-, but man, I don’t want to find another game. I love this one, but it’s been so long since I’ve been able to feel the same way as when I opened a chest in VOG, or got a shader from a faction vendor, or got a sick armsday roll, or opened a legendary primary engram from Rahool and got the Last Word.
I can live with the state of the game for now, but I want to feel that again. Excited.... Nervous.....Unknowing.
