Is masterworking Exotic armor worth 3 Ascendant Shards? For me, it wasn't worth it before but sunsetting made me revisit this question. I wonder if others are thinking about it too. Not being a high-level player, I don't generate a lot of Ascendant Shards each season but I usually get just enough new ones each time to masterwork my main armor sets for each of my three Guardians. But now I'm about to delete some sunsetted masterworked armor and it chokes me to know I won't get any Ascendant Shards back. This permanent loss of shards will always happen with masterworked Legendary armor because sunsetting will make that armor obsolete eventually, so it makes me hesitant to invest shards in it. Before I never considered masterworking any Exotic armor because it takes 3 Ascendant Shards to do it. But now I am thinking that I will focus on masterworking the Exotic armor I use the most. When I looked at it, I actually only use about 6 pieces of Exotic armor spread among my 3 Guardians. The great upside of this is that these Exotic armor pieces will never get sunsetted so I won't lose my investment of Ascendant Shards. Until I masterwork all my select Exotic pieces, my Legendary armor will have to wait. Then I will start doing them again. But until then I will have to content myself with using high roll pieces that I find that match well together, and to supplement with armor stat mods. I figure in a season or two I will be done with my Exotic Armor, so the long-term gain seems worth it. Anyone else thinking about this too?
