The signs on the doors caution you to wear safety and protective equipment, listing items like respirators, gloves, hardhats and more. High voltage stickers, Warning signs and some other strange impressions cover the doors; some seem alien; as if they are warning of threat youve not yet encountered, one shows a hole with a wriggling tentacle coming from it, what that one is you can only surmise. as you were informed of none of this beforehand in the strange letter you received detailing honest work with the promise of a decent reward, you have no choice but to press on unprotected, you can carry in clothing, one weapon of your choice that is of side arm or compact quality, (power rating: low) RP threat level (Low)For this RP, any extra eq and gear you may possess does not exist but can be aquired through Roleplay and Dice Rolls against the GM's(my) difficulty rating. (d20+(JMD)judgement modifier dice+bonus/penalties) The JMD represents the GM's confidence in your ability to complete a task and is represented as a multi sided dice roll d2-d12 bonuses and penalties are rare and applied as +1~ or -1~ to the final roll example: d20+d6 result 15, 2= 17 Diff. was 15, so the action suceeds. This System puts the power of Judgement squarely in the hands of the GM, where all power in RP belongs, participate at your own peril. This one is relatively easy though, no high level enemies...yet
_AS YOU ENTER THE next room, you can see it opens into a large open technicians area, a large black tank covered in wires and strange markings. Dolls and primitive charms hand in different parts of the room, and large circles painted on the floor with whirling and pointed symbols, brushed in what you queasily confirm as blood from the coppery and decaying smell in the air.
From a Console on the farside of the room a bespectacle woman looks up at you and takes off her glasses stammering welcomes and salutations, she rushes over to you and takes your hand; shaking it gratefuly, she is wild looking and decked out in both cybercomponents and voodoo talismans. She guides you to the tank and begins rattling off jargon at such you speed you cannot comprehend a word, you tell for to slow down for the love of offtopic! simple explanations are best.
She explains the device has been built for scrying into other planes of existence, ANY of them. 'think of it like a multiversal glove, your conciousness is projected through the spacetime continuum and into the Dimensional reality of choice through quantum processing of the Astral spiritual element! unfortunately it can only be quantumly-entagled with the projector if you have a piece of that reality, an object, a shoe a specimen of some kind, anything really as long as it came from there.'
Your head is spinning. Different dimensions; Astral Elements? you demand to know why you are here.
Rain smiles and asks you to be the test subject for the first scientifically monitored Astral Projection the history of the world...
Do you Accept? If you do... Read on...
otherwise, leave a bump and a like and thanks for reading
You suit up in the neural lattice that will measure your bodily functions and your brain activity, and step up into the tank that is filled with darkness a quick sniff confirms this is indeed only distilled water, the lid comes down and you are bathed in darkness a panel on the side of the tank displays a feed from Rains station, you see her checking here readouts and keying in sequences, you are startled by a whirring sound as an oxygen mask lowers from the ceiling of the tank, you are now more aware of how small the space is; a faint claustrophobic feeling creeps in. You put on the mask, and the tank fills up with water. You feel and hear the hum of the machine powering up and feel the buckling tank, the readout disappears and you are in total darkness, the sound of the machine is deafening and you feel queasy, unwell, then suddenly your vision is splintering, your perception of your dark cage is changing, you feel your consciousness ebb, this is it; the point of no return! You could force open the chamber now and get away... Do you take the plunge? If so, (click the spoiler)
Suddenly you are rocketed into consciousness, snapped like a rubber band through reality itself, flying at mindnumbing speeds through fields of light and dark voids. You feel the phantom g’s pulling at your face and body, and you feel is if you’ll pass out, but suddenly you come to a slow and gracefull glide, still flying at great speed across a barren plane you come to the very edge of a wide and black scorched crater surrounded by sand and endless desert plains, softly you touch down on the outcropping above the great hole in the ground, you look at your hands and feet but they don’t exist, you are simply a temporary ghost in this land. then you notice the bodies 10... no hundreds sprawled across the plans and crater.
Ruinous rubble is raked over all the eye can see But rising in the pile of ash and debris is a single spire, sharp and black. The corpses of beasts and men lie in great number around it, they are ancient and desiccated.
In this desolate waste you spot a figure walking, It was as if he had always been there; perhaps the eyes would betray the casual onlooker, that he was but another twisted spire of black metal reaching from the earth. His cloak of smoky black and his flat mask of oily obsidian, glides along the gravelly graveyard. The dark purple skies, are illuminated by an approaching storm that will arrive soon. He kneels and touches the soil, and from the dead earth springs a twisting and wormlike root, like lightning they spread enveloping the dead warriors, and permeating the soil. As he stands the groaning of long dead throats filled the air. You look around and see the bodies of these dead things convulsing as the root passes into them, you feel excitement as the roots reach for you but only pass by on their way to spin a wicked web of black unaware or ignorant of you.
The robed figure continues towards the spire, gliding along the worming and spreading roots. They themselves ooze and pulse; filling the ground with a grey and muddy pollution; laced with oily rainbows, and sheened blobs in deadly shades of purple blue and black. The toxic swamp begins to surround the spire, and you move closer to observe. It is filled with the snaking and spreading roots beneath it's putrid skein. The swamp bubbles around the dead warriors as they rise; puppeted by the worms of black winding through every orifice and rotten limb. They stalk towards the crater ignorant of your invisible form.
Raising his claws above him has he goes, dark fire crackles and spits sparks of dark energy that fly from the Dark mans hand and into the long rotted hearts of the revenant army. The dark lights fly far overhead and around you across the land following the corruption to find more dead. An onlooker from afar would see a dazzling and beautiful lightshow, as comets of brilliant violet light brought corpses of magic to life to feast on them. This is too much, why won’t she turn this damn thing off, you think in a panic. You feel yourself compelled to the spire, where the dark man stopped. The obsidian mask melts away to reveal his severe and gaunt face, black veins crawl beneath his pale skin, and his sunken eyes weep a thick black rot; wreathing chalky whites and irises that flashes with oily sheen. A salacious and sordid smirk appears at the corner of his mouth, and he places his clawed hands on the spire. Dark flame swirls from him and behind his countenance flashes with a pale violet light and he whispers a wretched ritual.
The whisper echoes above the cacophany of the convulsing warriors behind you, the blackened mans gift has burned and solidified their masses, bonding them eternally with the roots; and at their dark lords instruction, the roots begin to morph and give them new forms. Horrors. Stretched and split until they were unspeakable nightmares. Those missing arms are replaced with blades horrible organic whips, some have morphed into wallowing cephalapodic monsters, squealing with ghastly terror, and others yet more unspeakable. As the Speakers whisper grows in volume the ground shoakesk, and the land begins to heave. You feel yourself rising beside the evil shade.
It rises slowly, first the spire appears and then another, and then towers and battlements appear and the smooth black walls of a fortress. the moist earth droops and slides from its peaks and roofs, and from out of the soil the roots of corruption rain upon the army of Horrors below, now fully realized and legion. Miles upon miles of Warrior horrors, multiplying as you rise.
Atop the great spire the Speaker ends his cant, and looks down on the realm...
The fortress has fully manifested, and from this perch you can see the army still growing, An army worthy of Devil.
"My Master, this realm is yours to command, and we await the time of action."
He speaks suddenly and you feel a horrible sensation like the grating sound of metal on metal, stabbing your inner ear, and a rumbling feeling throughout your body, almost like a voice speaking from within you it is horrible.
“Yes, at last.”
Then you turn to see the Dark man staring directly into your eyes, you feel your consciousness paralyze with fear.
“And it seems they’ve gone and involved themselves again haven’t they”
You feel hands closing around your throat, squeezing you as the dark man’s eyes shine with dastardly intent into your very soul.
You feel your consciousness ripped from you as you are once again flying at breakneck speed, coming to a stop you thrash about in the tank. Rain… Rain pulled you out! Thank the maker! You feel about for the handle and slam it open ripping off the oxygen mask and freeing yourself. Rain is nowhere to be seen.
Last time I heard someone say "Take the plunge," (followed by: "You won't die.") I ended up having to fight them in a three stage boss battle... With lightning The music was a bop though... I had enough time running away and/or switching out with a friend to listen.

If I choose to play, how should my character be balanced? As the Ghost Rider I’m somewhat OP in comics. Can I use my powers and merely allow you to roll for success? Should they be given positive or negative monitors? Confronting the devil is something I’m uniquely suited to do, so I’d love to play this one. I just don’t want to break your encounters or pull random moves out of my butt to circumvent your challenges.
Sorry, all out of salt.

Holy mother of god, this is complex.

Jesus, that looks complicated.

Just a quick note, Rain is a regular old person, a feature to replace cat ears with would be her silver hair.
Yeah this looks fun and all, but I'm not participating for now...
