[i]St. Elmo's Fire[/i]. Science tries to explain it, but only indirectly, and assuming that it can't be anything of the fantastical variety. Then, said science comes up with a variety of explanations to prove their theory, e.g., an electric field ionizing air molecules, and thus giving them a faint glow and hum. As of now, there is no way to prove this wrong... But, if I said they were shocky-shocky will-o-the-wisps, I couldn't be proved wrong either. It has been known to dart down chimneys, hover around houses, then fly out under the crack of a door. They come in a variety of colors including (but not limited to) blue, violet, and in some rare cases, red or yellow. If it is indeed of the faerie variety, then [i]St. Elmo's Fire[/i] are quite mischievous, and in some cases evil. Such as destroying the [i]Luftschiffbau Zeppelin's LZ 129 Hindenburg[/i] of May 6,1937. This matches what we know of sprites and such hating humanity in folklores and myths. Scientist claim it to be a form of plasma, but they are pulling a veil over there eyes at the many other possibilities.
