edit: thanks for all the nice comments and advice! I really appreciate it :D
Since I've been playing Destiny, I have met a bunch of amazing people and friends in the team chat. Not many people use it, but sometimes u might encounter a nice teammate and u guys chat a bit after a match of gambit or something.
But I've been seeing a lot of people who use the team chat and type extremely offensive and harmful slurs. I'm not talking about someone getting tilted in a survival match. I'm talking things like the n word.
This isn't any SJW special snowflake getting offended type of thing. There should at least be SOME moderation in the team chat. Or after I report someone and they get banned/warned I want feedback.
I don't know if Steam or Bungie take care of this, I am just genuinely curious if this is even a thing.

A few words caused an entire rant. They’ve already won - learn from this mistake and move on.
-
You know how many times I was called the n word in team chat by angry 11 year olds playing COD MW2? It was great. 😁
-
Report and move on. PC chat is the Wild West, so know that going in. Console makers are getting more proactive in policing chat. Sony is warning its PSN users that chat lobbies are subject to being recorded. So—at least on PSN—-reporting people has an impact.
-
You should’ve known you were gonna get called a snowflake for not wanting to see people use derogatory slurs in a video game (especially this community). But anyways, I just report and hope for the best.
-
You can only do your part by reporting. The rest is up to the enforcers.. (or lack thereof).
-
Just report & move on.
-
Just words, words don’t hurt unless you allow them to.
-
If you're on PSN, reporting grief messages and audio recordings can get the other person banned or suspended. So be wary of what you may send to another.
-
...who cares? Just ignore them
-
Nah that's just a gamer word.

Grow thicker skin

What the user before I said, report and move on op. It's ok to be a ❄.

Sadly all you can do is report and move onto the next game/lobby. Beyond that forum posts like this will go vastly ignored or get a vague "we're looking into it" from moderators, Bungie, or ghosts. Go any further than that and then your violating TOS via witch hunting or some shanks. Which will lead to you get a much more severe punishment than hate speech or cheating hackers would get. Because logic. If Bungie, Mods, or Ghosts wanted us to have faith in them we need proof and evidence that things are getting done. Nothing like a list of names because violating TOS and privacy rights. But something more than vague answers that make it harder each time believing that they are taking action.

You lied, this is a snowflake thing.

I’d merely reply “lol” but I bet I’d get banned
