So, about 10 minutes ago, we get a knock on the door, thinking it was just a package mom ordered....
Well... it was a Christmas gift my mom got him, unfortunately it was not in a box and just had a shipping sticker on it...
Luckily i got him in his bedroom before he saw it, but to shit that it was exposed....
just hope that any gifts that show up for me are in a box so I can’t see it and be spoiled...
I ordered a laptop from Amazon during Prime Days a while back, and I refused delivery. I shit you not, it was in a box that was two inches taller than the retail packaging box, four or five inches wider and longer, with a single piece of craft paper that was maybe a foot and a half long, most likely to provide "cushioning" for the computer. 🙄 Worst part, the outer box had a single strip of tape down the top center seam, three bands of tape "keeping that strip in place" and the short edges of the box bowed outwards like a pair of brackets < >, as if it had been on the bottom of a stack. I took one look at package and told the driver I was refusing delivery. Still, he asked if I wanted to inspect the contents. The crushed box sides and craptacular tape job let me easily see the contents from the outside. Retail packaging all scuffed from sliding around all day and there was non-oem tape on the box. Worst Amazon delivery I've ever received. Still, it's not all bad, found a new laptop to buy, from a retailer instead if Amazon that's using Amazon as a storefront and so I'm betting the packaging will be spot on. I ended up ordering the same computer, with some upgrades from a third party using the Amazon storefront.

Amazons burning down :(

Amazon needs a rating for shipping and not just if you like the product. Some sellers do a really good job and others just toss it in a big box with no packing at all. My issue is when the Post Office delivers stuff. One time they left my Xbox One on some guy's porch five miles away. They could only tell me which street it was on so I had to drive up and down looking for it. I found it and looked like I was a thief when I ran up, grabbed it, and drove off really fast.

Over the years we've had to get more creative on how we hide gifts. Problem is remembering where you've hidden it. 2 years ago my dad put a sweatshirt for me in his closet, at some point he forgot is wasn't his and hung it up. 2 months after Christmas we're heading out to meet some family and I ask my dad if I can borrow a sweatshirt, it was then that he remembered it wasn't his.

Edited by Upperclass Bum: 11/20/2020 1:53:08 AMHi, former Amazon FC Associate 1 here, can confirm it's a real shit show. Doesn't help that it's the start of peak season.

A lot of times there is a box to can click at checkout that says “this will be a gift” which makes sure this doesn’t happen. It might not have been available o this particular order, but maybe make your family aware of the option and check that box when possible. It’s not totally obvious or easy to see, so it can be easy to miss.

Ha, Amazon always delivers my stuff on time and well-packaged. Must be the local crew.
Sorry, all out of salt.
Amazon ships fine to mine house around 85% of the time.

My uncle ordered some LPs once and the delivery guy FOLDED THEM IN HALF to get them through his letterbox
-
Just curious, do you trust Amazon to run the e commerce?
-
I’d ordered a drafting board for my apartment so I could do more work from home, but they must’ve been dragging it behind the delivery van because the amount of damage was -blam!-ing ridiculous.

Anybody that ships a gpu in simple retail packaging should be shot on principle. Change my mind.
-
Mark it as a gift dummy.

Weird My amazon stuff is always perfect

What was the gift? Did it even survive not being in a box?
