While the drive back to Site-OT, it was fairly short. The confirmation process that would take longer. he may have passed the retinal scan, but with a little work and trickery, anyone could have. hair samples, vocal range tests, along side testing for known anomalous capabilities the director had took a few hours as even when the director was gone, the site was as busy as it ever was.
This left Dr. False with time, as agents and doctors passed by the entrance hall before an all to familiar face stopped before him. An aged face with clear signs of a lack of sleep holding a strange book in his hand. The old face of Dr. Styx, Site-OT's top translator, warmed up at the sight of his old boss, and good friend, surprised to see what should have only been a ghost in the flesh. As they conversed, he revealed for the time, Styx was placed as temporary director. A reluctant position to be sure, but one he willfully and well served for a year. There was wear from the late nights, wear that took a toll on men like him. False placed a hand on the shoulder of his old friend, and thanked him, and promised when he got back to work, to give the man a vacation, no strings attached. There was a chuckle, and Styx moved on back to his task at hand.
When the tests were finished and the director's badge was re-authorized, Dr. False returned to his office just in time to inspect reports of a new anomalous object. Not even a second to ease into his work again, but he didn't mind. On the screen was an image and a name. SCP-044-OT, "The cobalt fortress".
(Might make this a series for while I'm trying to come up with other ideas, I dunno. Fun way to tease SCP writing ideas at least)
