I took a little time off D2 after black armoury. And I came back this season, so far I've really enjoyed hitting up all the content I missed and trying to catch up before beyond light.
I think I've been one of the few that's been thankful for the longer season to try and finish stuff off before it gets vaulted!
One of those things was the Shadow seal (that's the menagerie/ season of opulence one). It's a pretty long title to go for, including raid challenges and 200 runes slotted in your chalice. Of course it came down to the wire, my last triumph to complete was 'Crown of Ease' - Flawless Crown of Sorrow.
Well my fireteam and I were at the boss on a flawless run last night when we got booted for the small live event update (0000 UTC). Very frustrating to have that taken away but we thought, If we've done it once we can do it again. The problem; the flood of people logging on to destiny for the 'live event'. Plagued by Destiny server issues and endless 'newt' error codes we couldn't get the fireteam back together until 0230 UTC. Of course with the servers coming offline at 0300 UTC, there was no chance we could complete the flawless raid in time.
I put a lot of time into all the other challenges for the shadow seal and do feel quite cheated to be removed from activity at the boss for a live event update. I know we had fair notice but I thought we might be given until the end of an activity before removing us from the game. I also thought we'd have 3 hours after the small update to try again. But thanks to the server issues that wasn't the case.
I had heard of the server issues with the Almighty live event, I had assumed that bungie might attempt to fix the issues before trying another live event.
I think the knowledge of a secret emblem may have incentivised many more people than have been playing the game to log on and overload everything. Could the live event have just been a smaller thing for people who have enjoyed season of arrivals?
Summation:
Disappointment I couldn't complete the Shadow seal I'd sunk a lot of time into.
Confusion that the live event didn't go smoother second time around.
Excitement for prestigious and difficult seals to shoot for in beyond light.
Question:
If Crown of sorrow is brought out of the content vault in the future, will I have a chance to finish my seal?
Can bungie organise a special trip to the Leviathan so I can finish it in beyond light?
Cheers
p.s. you wanna slip me that last triumph bungie?
