Unity was immobile in the abstract form Contrast put her in. Repetition’s mechanical hands were holding the ball of flesh and cloth that was now the Eighth Principle. She was unable to see, speak, or breathe in her new form, but despite every basic function that could be performed by humans being taken from her, she could still think. To her, that’s all she needed.
The power of the Eighth Principle allows the vessel to share the thoughts, abilities and properties of those they choose. All that is needed to perform the unification is simple, physical contact. In her short battle with Contrast, Unity got more than just a touch. Now unified with the Grand Leader, Unity had the thoughts in his mind and the abilities in his arsenal at her disposal.
Unity did the same with the droid that held her and began to work.
——
Dominance fell over in front of Alignment as he began to bleed profusely from what remained of the left side of his waist. The blood reflected the dim blue light that barely illuminated the black hallway. Contrast’s soft chuckle echoed through the ship, but was quickly drowned out by Alignment’s raging screams.
Contrast: “At last, the things you devoted yourself to protecting are now gone. First your home, now your best student and companion. It’s not really your day, is it, Ali—“
Alignment dashed towards Contrast with his weapon in hand; his usual calm demeanor completely absent and replaced with seething anger. Contrast was briefly surprised, but quickly took action. As Alignment swung his ball configuration at the man who he hated the most, Contrast extended his cane and touched the laser that formed the blade in between the balls. The white laser then completely evaporated into a puff of smoke and the balls Alignment held fell and scattered across the ground.
Alignment was unfazed and jumped up into the air to deliver a strong kick that landed on Contrast’s face. The top hat on his head fell off as he received the strike, but Contrast immediately retaliated by turning his body around and using his cane to strike Alignment with a force that sent him flying across the hallway and tearing apart bits and pieces of the floor along the way.
Alignment lied on the ground for a moment and began to get up, but didn’t move fast enough as Contrast ran up to him and use his cane to puncture his back. The professor yelped in pain as the Grand Leader grinned with glee until he noticed something underneath Alignment. An object that emitted a golden glow stood out from the black floor of the Omninavus. Alignment tried to hide it, but Contrast quickly picked it up and examined it.
Contrast: “Another one of your precious fruits, Allo? When will you ever learn, dear professor? Items that hold such worth never belonged to you. They always belonged to me!”
With that, Contrast placed the golden item into his mouth and bit into it, expecting it to be sweet and juicy. What he experienced was a bitter shock. The object was hard, cold, and completely tasteless. He quickly took it out of his mouth and came to the realization that what he bit into was a piece of metal from the floor that was coated in some sort of golden juice. Contrast then quickly turned his attention back to Alignment and saw that in his hand was the real golden fruit. He tried to swipe it away, but it was too late. Alignment had bit into the golden fruit and from him erupted a pillar golden light.
Contrast was knocked off Alignment’s body and fell onto the ground. The moment he got up, he saw that Alignment was gone from his original position and was standing right behind him. The gray clothing wore now shone in a golden light along with his skin and hair. The light he emitted completely lit up the black hallway and nearly blinded Contrast with its radiance. Alignment had ascended through the power of the fruit. Contrast gave off a shocked expression, but immediately tried to hide it.
Contrast: “So what? You think just because you ate another one of your plants means you can win?”
Alignment began to walk away from Contrast and towards the fallen Dominance with the rest of the golden fruit in hand. He held the fruit over the nearly dead man in armor and squeezed it until a drop of golden juice fell into his mouth. Dominance’s body began to throb and the area of his torso that was obliterated began to repair.
Contrast: “Did that fruit make you deaf? You can’t win, Alignment! As long as I control this ship, I hold all of the cards!”
Suddenly, the ship began to rumble and shake. The blue lights in the hall brightened and mechanical noises filled the inside of the ship until finally stopping abruptly. Contrast fell again, but quickly stood up and looked at the window at the end of the hall. The Omninavus was no longer in OffTopic. It was in the remnants of Gray Sector.
Words began to fill the minds of Alignment, Contrast and Dominance.
Unity: “You’re nothing if not overconfident, Contrast.”
Contrast: “Unity, you brat! What did you do?! Why are you in my head?!”
Unity: “The second you let me get close, you lost. Our minds and powers are now unified. And since this ship can only be controlled by your mind, I used that to my advantage. Through Repetition, I was able to control this ship and warp it back to one of the realms you destroyed. I’m sure you’re familiar with this one.”
Contrast: “I’m going to kill you!”
Unity: “I’m afraid that’s not possible. You see, I’m not even on the ship anymore. I had already unified with Proximity and now I’ve used her Principle to create an escape portal. And now, I’ll be taking Dominance with me.”
A portal began to form underneath Dominance and transported him out of the Omninavus as his body continued to heal.
Unity: “You took everything from me, Callow. I only wish that I was there in person to see the same thing happen to you.”
The words began to fade from the minds of Contrast and Alignment. Alignment slowly turned to face Contrast in the empty hall.
Alignment: “If that’s the case, then I have no reason not to destroy this place, nor a reason to spare your life.”
Contrast: “You cocky little—“
Contrast was immediately silenced as Alignment dashed at him and grabbed him by the throat. He held Contrast in front of him as he ran through the ship at blinding speeds, busting through every wall he could find. Contrast’s body was used as a battering ram until finally, Alignment ran him through the window in the hall, sending them both in midair outside of the Omninavus. The ship then exploded above the two, causing large hunks of metal to litter the sky like stars.
Immediately after they had jumped out, Alignment threw Contrast all the way to the empty ground of Gray Sector and lifted his arms up to the sky. Strings of golden energy began to extend from his fingertips and to the clusters of metal above. Each string wrapped themselves around a single piece of metal, only to jump to another and repeat the process. One by one, Alignment’s strings tethered themselves to the large metal clusters until eventually, all of the remnants of the Omninavus were connected in a massive web of golden string in a matter of seconds.
Alignment swung his arms forward and the entire web of metal clusters was sent flying to the ground where Contrast lied. He raised his cane up to the incoming metal storm and used his Principle to turn it all into a massive swarm of wasps that began to fly upwards back to the golden man.
Once again, Alignment raised his hand and from the fiery explosion that filled the empty, gray sky emerged his ball that came flying into his hand. The second he grabbed it, he threw the ball through the center of the swarm with a force strong enough to scatter every wasp away from the space he occupied. The ball led a trail of golden light and smashed into Contrast’s chest, causing him to vomit a mouthful of blood and the ground beneath him to crack apart.
Finally, Alignment landed over Contrast, preparing to deliver the final blow until he felt something press against his stomach. He saw Contrast’s cane touch his stomach as Contrast weakly smiled. Alignment then fell over and began to vomit profusely as the golden glow he emitted faded.

Contrast: “Careful, Alignment. You shouldn’t be working so hard after you just ate. You need your stomach to properly digest that fruit. Well, I guess it’s actually just a clump of rotten meat by now.” Contrast staggered up and stood over Alignment as he twitched and gagged. He raised his cane and prepared to thrust it into the poisoned man’s heart. Suddenly, a portal appeared in front of Contrast and from it leaped out Dominance with his sword in both hands. Contrast’s eyes widened in shock as he realized he couldn’t react in time. Dominance slashed into Contrast’s skull and completely shattered the large crystal in his forehead. Contrast staggered backwards and screeched in agony as his body began to morph into abstract forms. After a series of transformations, Contrast finally turned into a black and white puddle that seeped into the empty soil of Gray Sector. It was over. The Grand Leader was gone. Contrast was dead. Dominance stood and looked at his teacher. Dominance: “I’m sorry. I’m so, unbelievably sorry. When you decided to do nothing to help the people of Paradisum, I thought you were blinded by fear. I thought that there was nothing more that I could learn from you. I thought you weren’t my teacher, nor my friend. But now, I see that I was the one who was blind. I was so desperate that I relied on a false promise to help my people. I betrayed you just for the chance to get my kingdom back. Words can’t describe the regret I feel, but...” Dominance extended his hand. Dominance: “Perhaps my actions will.” Alignment and Dominance stared at each other in silence for a long moment. The relationship between the professor and the prince would never be the same. But it was proven to remain as a relationship between comrades as Alignment took Dominance’s hand. —— The door to Gray Sector opened in OffTopic and from it walked out Alignment, Dominance, Unity, Balance, Proximity and Emphasis. The survivors of a great catastrophe walked into a new land stronger than ever. Unity: “So, this is where we’ll be living from now on?” Alignment: “That’s the plan. I’m sure they won’t mind if we build a small settlement here. They owe me, after all.” Balance: “Weren’t you partly responsible for the Grand Colony nearly destroying their land?” Alignment: “They don’t know that. Besides, they’re very welcoming to newcomers. Well, most of them. Anyway...” Alignment turned towards Proximity and Emphasis. Alignment: “What do you two planning on doing now that Contrast is gone?” Proximity: “I was hoping to help you build your new settlement. I do owe you, after all, for freeing me and finding my sister.” Emphasis: “I plan on staying, too. I’ll have you know that I don’t feel in debt to you at all. I just wanna make sure that the people of Paradisum have a proper leader once they see Dominance as the weakling he is.” Alignment: “Still haven’t broken out of that ego, have you?” Balance: “Well what are we supposed to do with Repetition?” Alignment: “I figured that a little reprogramming and modifications will put him to good use. Now that the Grand Colony is gone, he should be harmless for the time being.” Unity: “Regarding that, what’s going to happen to the Fourth Principle if Contrast— I mean, Callow, is dead?” Alignment: “You should know how the Principles work by now. If he’s really dead, we should see the rise of another vessel for the Principle of Contrast, whether it’s a person or object.” Alignment looks at Dominance. Alignment: “Well, Dommie, it looks like you’re finally in charge of your kingdom. I’m counting on you to lead them well.” Dominance: “I completely plan on it, my friend. By the way, what exactly do you plan on building here?” Alignment: “Well, I was pretty happy with what we had going in Gray Sector. A place where I could teach a variety of people in so many unique ways while also learning new things along the way. I think we’ll be doing that, but bigger. An academy. Yes, I love the sound of that.” Unity: “Thinking about it makes me excited, too.” Alignment: “It seems like you’re getting that childlike wonder back, bud.” Unity: “I don’t see what’s childlike about it at all!” Alignment: “No need to be ashamed. You’re still young. Now then.” Alignment holds Contrast’s cane with both hands and places it on the ground. Alignment: “Let’s get to work.”
Took me more than a year, but my character arc is finally done.

Fades Away
Ah yes, a happy ending. The heroes have won.
